I've been listening to all my 80's music today (so many great memories) and was wondering what three 80's songs you would make sure to include if you were making a mix cd for a friend?

My three would be:

1) Modern English -"I Melt With You"
2) Human League - "Fascination"
3) INXS - "Don't Change"

To really give someone a taste of the 80's in three songs would be tough... but here goes:

Flock of Seagulls - Space Age Love Song

Nina - 99 Red Balloons

XTC - Generals and Majors

I never remember what was played in the 70's or the 80's, but here are three I really liked back in the day:

1.  Purple Rain - Prince
2.  The Wall - Pink Floyd
3.  Take This Job and Shove It - Johnny Paycheck (actually, I think that  might have been '78 or '79, but it's close enough.

I would have to go with Don't Stop Believing by Journey, Riverside Avenue by REO, Sara by FleetwoodMac ( though I am not sure that Sara came out in the 80"s or not? )

There should be a consitutional amendment banning this song from ever being played again. There was a local radio station that offered an "80's All Request Lunch" program. They would play this song every day. One day the DJ came on and said, "Call with your requests, but don't request Come on Eileen because I am never playing this song again." I laughed so hard after I heard this. I don't mind the song but it agrivates me to no end.

LMAO!!!!  i hate that song!!!

i was going to say, i'm making a mix of all the GREAT songs on this threat EXCEPT that awful, horrible, terrible song!!!

Narrowing it down to 3....hard stuff:  In addition to the great songs already mentioned -

Disco/Soul
1. Lady Marmalaide - Patti LaBelle
2. Happy Feelings - Maze featuring Frankie Beverly
3. Let's Stay Together - Al Green

Too many to choose from!!!  i'm an 80s queen...heh.

Non Disco
1.  Strong Persuader - Robert Cray
2. Anything off the Mama CD - Genesis
3. I don't care anymore - Phil Collins
