if you were asked today what laws you would want on the books, what would they be and how would you write them and enforce them? (Meaning, setting a punishment for that particular offense) Would it have any loopholes?

Setting state minimum beer prices should be prohibited by law!

People who called the police to report the quiet nudity or sexual activity going on inside a neighbor's house would be prosecuted as peeping toms and spend a mandatory five days in jail.

"Consent" WOULD be a legitimate defense to accusations of abuse, and prosecution would require a non-coerced complaint by the "victim" him/herself.  Of course, specific questions would have to be raised, and if the victim says the accused hit him/her, then the next question would be, "was it consensual?"  If the answer to that is yes, then the accused goes free.

Anyone using a weapon in committing a crime goes to prison.  No probation.  No plea bargains.  Go directly to jail.  Do not pass go; do not collect $200.  The length to be determined by type of weapon used and the crime committed.

personally, with all the cameras and stuff the cops use, i think anyone caught in the act of commiting a crime with a firearm should be shot on sit...we've got enough people in prison as it is...people "we're" paying to support while the vicitm continues to suffer or were killed in the process of commiting such violent acts.

Ok, I think this one needs to be thought through a little better fergus.... I for one know of many... and I mean MANY women that I personally would not want to see that way.... Well, I know of a lot of men I wouldn't want to see that way either... no, you aren't one of them.

Anyone found to have given a false claim of a crime committed against someone would spend that amount of time in jail.

I would decriminalize the use and distribution of recreational drugs.

michaelGA -> RE: New Laws... (4/8/2006 8:38:04 PM)

i hate drugs so i would have them more regulated or illiminated comepletely...even if it meant a door-to-door search...but that's just me.

Well, yeah, but a lot of those are people busted for pot or coke possession (not necessarily with intent to sell), and I'd definitely pass a law to make pot legal (and taxable) and reduce the penalty for simple possession of other narcotics.
