Actually the Patriot Act is different, as it allows government access where previously forbidden. They should have protested.

Coding ammunition, however, doesn't do that. But I get your point.

This isn't any more true now than it was the last time you claimed it.  Public Law 103-322, 'Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994', otherwise knows as the "Assault Weapons Ban", had nothing to do with Bush.  There was a sunset built into the original bill and since there was no legislation to extend or replace P.L.103-322 with something similar, on September 14, 2004 it ceased to exist.

Gun-toting liberal here.

One thing about all the "Obama's gonna take away your guns" hype is that it's done a lot to increase the firearms industry.  Our local shooting range is holding more concealed weapons permit classes than ever before!  It even got my Master off His behind to get His. 

But no matter how many guns we own, we don't fret about people stealing our guns or our ammo to commit crimes that we in turn would be accused of.  If we had such a theft, it would be reported immediately.  We obey the law when it comes to our firearms.  

Handlebar height and decibel ordinances on the pipes is another matter altogether.
