I personally assign him little responsibility (like none) for the explosion, for the spill, for the exttreme difficulties in stopping it.

But the cavalier, slow, and inadequate response topside? The endless fuckups (building enviromental impact statements instead of berms, et al ad nauseum). He owns that.

Wait'll oil washes up in Miami and he tries to run for re-election in Fl. If he bothers to run for re-election at all.

Why on Earth would you believe that the US gov't has the ability to stop an oil spill 5 miles down?

You are kind of a simpleton.

Jeffff -> RE: Ghostbusters and Obama (5/28/2010 8:09:36 AM)

Why would he think that a president could wait 5 days to send aid to an American city devistated by a flood?..................... oh, wait.....nevermind

You are kind of illiterate, insofar as I said I give him, like, zero responsibility for the spill, or for the stopping of it; and you quote the post where I assign him responsibility for the cleanup. As does everyone, including Ear Leader hisself.
He's the guy who said the day of his ascension to the throne would mark the day the world began to heal and the oceans stopped their rise.
Reading, domiguy. It's your friend.

I have no idea of your point, unless it is to show sloppy thinking and call names (again and again and again. Don't you get tired?)

1. "He hates Obama" Off target. Seems to be an okay guy, good family man, personable, a "clean black man with no African accent unless he wants one" (or whatever your Sen Reid said; I agree). I do indeed hate his policies, his disdain of America, his incompetence.
2. Rationalize it? Oh hell no. One rationalizes those things about which one feels guilty? I should feel guilty about political opinions? Hardly.
3. Name calling.
4. Transparent? Good God, I hope so. I'd hate for some fool to somehow think I approved of the job Ear Leader is doing. Transparent, indeed.
I owe you an apology if American is your second language.

Ear Leader

Again, i do request that we remember the respect to the office if not the man, please.

Sanity -> RE: Ghostbusters and Obama (5/28/2010 8:40:29 AM)

Lincoln served as a Captain in the Illinois Militia and JFK was a Naval PT boat Captain, which are both executive or management positions.

I was obviously not referring to the office.

Can you show me where you objected to any of the truly vile things said about Bush? The things that ata=tacked his character, his very humanity? You object to poking gentle fun at his ears- the ears of a man widely considered attractive, at that, not the ears of a man with a grotesque deformity he is ashamed of and takes pains to hide.

They do call him thinskinned, though.

Ignoring that you ignored the rest of the runon sentece from which you snippetted, the only executive experience on either side of that sorry ballot was owned by Gov Palin.

How did all that "executive experience" work out for her?

"People are being really, really mean to me.  I quit."

Sanity -> RE: Ghostbusters and Obama (5/28/2010 8:51:35 AM)

Each had their respective executive aptitudes tested prior to being handed one of the most important jobs in the world, too.

Obama was wet behind the ears, and of unknown character.

ORIGINAL: tazzygirl

Yet Lincoln had no experince. Neither did JFK. Both were leaders in the true sense of the word. Both achieved amazing things during their presidencies, unless im recalling history wrong.

She resigned because the hateful leftist freaks who are hounding her were making it impossible for her to be an effective governor.

Musicmystery -> RE: Ghostbusters and Obama (5/28/2010 8:53:44 AM)

Beyond the silly childish stuff, the main criticism of Obama is that he's Bush Light, continuing eight years of conservative Republican policy even people like you want to see gone.

Handled well or not, the holdover crises from the last administration will pass, and we can finally see his effectiveness moving forward.

As for the oil spill, that's just opportunistic ranting. What precisely do you think should have been done? Turned out the oil industry didn't have it's act together. That can be fixed, but it doesn't magically and immediately plug gushing oil wells.

rulemylife -> RE: Ghostbusters and Obama (5/28/2010 8:54:26 AM)

Many of us warned of the utter foolishness of hiring a man with no executive experience, no real legislative experience, zero history of getting things done in a bipartisan manner. Some/many/most of those who ignored those arguments even though they should have known better are coming around.
That would be my point.

Repeating exactly what you said the first time certainly cleared all that up.

Now I understand much better.

And Obama was a Professor that taught Constitutional Law.

As far as your "executive or management positions" that would make a crew manager of McDonalds qualified to be president. Hell, my father was a boat captain in the Coast Guard. Even he would not dare to think that would be enough to state "executive experience".

Wow. There's no way fully to address a post that begins with the assumption Bush was a conservative (neo or otherwise).
I quit taking drugs a couple decades ago, and can't get that far down the rabbithole without them.
Thanks, though.

[sarc/on] That healthcare bill all the conservatives want to repeal, and 21 states are suing as unconstitutional. Well, sure, pretty much a continuation of conservative R policies there. [sarc/off]

Yet, somehow a United States Senator is considered not to have the ever-popular "executive experience"?

This was the dumbest argument I have ever seen when it was first brought up and it only keeps getting sillier.

Especially when those who brought it up were damning their own candidate by the same ridiculous claim.

Sanity -> RE: Ghostbusters and Obama (5/28/2010 9:06:31 AM)

Then your father in law has more executive experience than Obama, as has the crew chief at any McDonalds.

Why is that important? Its important because it means he's been tested, and you want someone who has had their leadership skills tested in this position.

Sanity -> RE: Ghostbusters and Obama (5/28/2010 9:08:34 AM)

Obama was a Junior Senator who almost never voted.

My father... not in law. And ever seen a crew manager at McD's? I personally want someone in there that understands the constitution and is known for his ability to listen to both sides and work towards accomplishing goals. Obama has that.
