here is a test for you----------take a rock, a big fucking rock......put it over your kitche sink hole.........fill to the brim with water  give us the time it takes the sink to drain.

Bout the same thing, was going to use an example with a fire hydrant, but----

good experiment. Now I have onef or you. Set up your sprinkler on your lawn. Turn the water on full blast. drop a boulder the size of a car on top of it. see how much water comes out of it.

Well you would totally screw up your sprinkler, but the water would still find a way to leak out.

Perhaps we should send Bat Boy down there? He could wedge his head in the hole.

The point you're missing, though, is that this is not a sprinkler. This is a fire hydrant 2 feet in diameter. Three quarters of a million gallons of oil day, at a pressure of more than 10,000 pounds per square inch, is not a garden sprinkler. Dropping something on a fire hydrant doesn't seal off the hydrant, it just breaks it. This is the same principle. In order for this to have even a chance of working, the sea floor would have to be perfectly flat (which it is not), and the ship would have to land squarely on top of it right-side up. Anything else, the oil is still coming out (even more heavily now, because you've broken off the pipe that's restricting the flow), and all you're doing is making it impossible for any of the other efforts to work because now you can't get at the point where it's leaking. Because you've got a ship sitting on top of the damned thing.

This whole idea is nuts. There's no way at all that it could possibly work.

Seems to me that the first thing to do is to reduce the pressure. 2000 pounds per square inch? Then latch a divider into five pipes on it. Still too much pressure, then latch another divider onto each subpipe, reducing the pressure to 400 pounds per square inch. And so on until it can be dealt with.

Has anyone ever seen a battle ship?

They are big and heavy.

I sincerely doubt dropping a battle ship on the leak will do much at all, as remember battle ships are hollow inside. If the well riser punctures the bottom skin of the ship, hey, loads of openings for the stuff to come out of. If the ship just squashes the riser, then given the pressure this oil is coming out at, it will find it's way out, and likely under more pressure due to the squashed riser. But say for example the ship does not hit square on target, which is likely as the hull of those things is kind of curved, it will will just create more crap at the bottom the sea for submersibles to navigate around when they come up with a better idea. But if the idea is dump some metal on it, war machines and oil being inextricably linked, how about driving at it with a submarine and hopefully wedging the thing up the pipe, cork like.

Anyway, perhaps you need a new island there, get  the bods that built those offshore islands of Dubai and build one over the well, then you can deal with the problem on the surface.

One idea is to shove a nuke into the predrilled hole.
One is to set it off on the ocean floor.
I'm not exactly an expert on the aftereffects of noclear warhrads, but there is certainly a possibility that the heat generated would seal the hole.

Why would anyone think that you have the capability to come up with an interesting idea....When you are incapable of even getting the "quote" thing right?

You are an idiot....However, I understand that the heat generated from noclear warhrads placed in the heart of West Virginia would decrease the number of uneducated people in this country dramatically.

FR:
It is apparent that few have read the link posted.
The link says the proposal was a rumor.
The link also says that the proposal was first offered by alex jones.

Friday, May 28, 2010

A rumor circulating in Louisiana’s state capitol, Baton Rouge, has it that:

Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus has reportedly floated the idea of sinking a battleship directly on top of the Macondo well in order to drop 80,000 tons on it and crush the drill pipe and the blowout preventer alike.

I proposed this idea on May 15th (using a barge) and submitted it to BP. BP says that it has received 17,000 suggestions to date, so mine is not necessarily unique.

Since proposing the idea, I have learned more about the geology of the oil-rich Gulf region. As I wrote on May 22nd:

The link goes on to point out that the geology of the sea bed around the blowout is propriatary information of bp and bp is not sharing this information with anyone, not even the federal government.
The link further states that geological data that is available for this area indicates that dropping stuff on the blowout would have no positive effects.
Thank you hunky for an interesting article that contains some rather interesting revelations not only about the source (prison planet)but about bp.

As I've suggested when somebody else was talking about nuking the hole, the damage Katrina did to New Orleans will be as nothing next to the havoc Godzilla could do to the city...

Ok- an unusual catastrophe may require an unorthodox remedy.

This event is a new problem.  While we have seen similar spills- we have not seen anything this extreme.

I don't care much what the solution- is - or who thinks it up- only that hopefully the powers that be will get this under control ASAP.

Is it unprecedented? There was that spill off the coast of Korea a couple of years back.

No idea. I'd imagine they must have managed to get a cap on it.
