That BP blew off the safety measures to prevent what no one else can solve either doesn't make them better.

Status: offline 		BP got the blow out, it could have been anyone drilling in the gulf.

Nobody ever had a plan. 

The Bush idiots let people start drilling deeper and deeper with nothing for a plan except to decide that the likely hood of an accident was so small no one needed a plan.

The Obama idiots decided to open more deep water leases with the same plan.  This after watching the one in the Timor Sea blow oil for 3 months.  Somebody should have said,  wait can we do better than that?

What we have is the only sure method to cap one of these there ever was.  A relief well.

Yes, there was. And had it been installed properly, this wouldn't be happening.

It's why they are called "blow out preventers."

Incorrect again my friend. BP dropped the British part ages ago. The company working in the Gulf, although owned by BP, is BP America. They have a HQ in Texas and employ some 30,000 people, mostly Americans I would guess.

They also operate under the current US regulations, pay US taxes and supply oil for American cars.

Status: offline 		There really is only one tone I can accept about this BP disaster -- ranging anywhere between upset and outraged to bewildered and dispirited.

The only positive will be stronger regulations to protect our environment going forward, its just sad that something like this has to occur to wake up the establishment.

This is kind of an American Chernobyl situation as I see it.
