I found her to cheat, that would bother me.

Hey Steven et al,

I taught some kids a game called "gin rummy - see who can cheat the most and get away with it". It was great fun! The kids loved that they were allowed to do what they always wanted to do. And they were laughing and calling on each other ... It was a good lesson to teach them that things aren't always as they seem. One kid said, "but you're an adult, you're not allowed to cheat." And we talked about how adults sometimes aren't honest. It really opened things up so the kids could talk about the times they've been disappointed by an adult saying one thing and doing another.

To me, they needed to learn that others don't have the same values they have.

(Just so you know, I only cheat when it is a game of cheating. If it's a serious game, I don't.)

I hate games of competition. I am either really good and sweep things (and feel guilty) or lose horribly (and feel like the dumbest person on the planet). Only if I am kind of evenly matched is it fun. I want to be challenged; I want to challenge the other person. Anything beyond that, no thanks. Generally, then, I avoid games of competition. I like cooperative games, improv games because of that.

best,
sunshine

Well, if you challenged me to play strip gin rummy, i can assure you that i'd try to win.  i'm curious to see what other tattoos you have.  Heck, i might even cheat.  [:D]

You'd better hope I didn't catch you cheating, though...

Dude... everybody does not have poor self esteem issues here in BDSM land. Get a fucking clue.

LOL, Master and I talk smack all the time about who is going to beat who at Soul Calibur 4. But we still haven't managed to actually play, because of busy schedules. THAT will be a fun night, and like hell I'll let him win. His dominance and power over me has nothing to do with who hits buttons in sequence quicker. I just hope he'll see fit to spank my bottom red after I whoop his figuratively. :)

Do you ever play competitive games with your Master / Mistress or with your slave?
If you are a slave and you win a game, does it make you "feel" less submissive?
If you are a Master / Mistress and the slave defeats you, do you feel that your authority is endangered?
If you are a slave, do you let your Master / Mistress win, even if you can defeat him / her?

Each time a competitive game is played, whether it's Battleship, Clue, Subbuteo, or Twister, the Mephistophelian pact of Dominance and submission between the two parties is on the line.  Each subtle shift in momentum, each brilliant play or stroke of pure luck, brings the matter closer to a resolution.  What does the submissive play for?  Their soul.  What does the Dominant play for?  Dominion over same.

This dynamic is best encapsulated by that scene from what is, in my opinion, one of the greatest and most important films ever made, in which Theodore "Ted" Logan and Bill S. Preston Esq. (alias Bill and Ted) play a game of Twister against death for their souls.  Deeply powerful stuff.

To answer your question directly:

I like games.  I always play to win.

OA,

I am now going to pretend that you didn't just demonstrate knowledge of the full names of the characters from the Bill and Ted films.

I am pretending.

Please never again interfere with this pretence.

Your ongoing cooperation in the maintenance of my safe happy place is appreciated in advance.

Being competative (for me) usually refers to 'wits'.    Fortunatley He is likewise and indulges me - we have some bloody good 'games' [:D]

Master and i play a card game on the computer 8 times out of 10 he will beat me. Do i let him win Hell no! he is better at the game then i am but sometimes with the luck of the cards i beat him. When i get a good score i tease him i tell him my score and say see if you can beat that Master. Many times he does but the few he does not win are sweet.

Just bowling or pool mostly, darts once in a while. Pool we are very evenly matched but I kick his ass at bowling while he trounces me a darts. We do play a lot of cooperative games. We just started a new round of Timesplitters 3 in co-op mode. He goes all out guns blazing while I usually do the long distance sniping since I am deadly accurate and we have a blast together.

No, not a whit.

hahaha.. no way! If he can't beat me fair and square he doesn't deserve the win!

Dear Valued Reader,

I'm afraid the best I can do is to make a solemn promise that, in the future, if a post contains a detailed reference to the Bill and Ted oeuvre, I will preface it with a bolded "Here There Be Bill and Ted References."  Unless I forget.

Orpheus Agonistes is as eager to resolve this situation as you are.  We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Very sincerely,

OA

LOL...this is a really good question which ive been wondering about myself!.....I'm a very competative person, i dont like to do anything unless i do it well but when i play against my Master at pool i havnt beaten him as yet!!!....i'm really getting annoyed at myself (not really ;-) ) I'm not laying down and letting him beat me...it just sort of seems to happen (even to the pisnt where the friggin white has gone in off the black!).....hmmm........i'll get over this and beat him one day.

Would i let my Master beat me?.....not on your nellie!!! I like to win!......but then i wonder if i beat him would i feel guilty?....probably! but that still wouldnt stop me from trying to beat him.
