Becks lastest mad rants

Glenn Beck Apologizes for Mocking Obama's Daughter

quote:

In his radio show, "The Glenn Program" on Premiere Radio Networks, Beck mocked Malia Obama for asking her father if he'd managed to stop oil from continuing to spill out into the Gulf of Mexico. At a news conference Thursday, the president recounted how his daughter had asked him, "Did you plug the hole yet, Daddy?" -- in an effort to illustrate how all Americans are anxious about the BP oil rig that's now become America's worst oil spill in history.

Afterward Beck made fun of the anecdote, imitating Malia in a squeaky voice.

"Daddy? Daddy? Daddy, did you plug the hole yet? Daddy?" he said. Then Beck's co-host Pat Gray responded as if he were the president.

"Honey, not yet... Not time yet, honey. Hasn't done enough damage," Gray said.

Then Beck took his argument a step further, saying the exchange reveals something about Malia's education. The 11-year-old and her 9-year-old sister Sasha go to Sidwell Friends, an exclusive and high-performing academy that's sometimes called "the Harvard of Washington's private schools."

"'Did you plug the hole yet, daddy?' Is that's their -- that's the level of their education, that they're coming to -- they're coming to daddy and saying 'Daddy, did you plug the hole yet?'" Plug the hole!" Beck said on his Friday morning radio show.

Later in the 4-minute segment, Beck turned the routine toward Obama's race. "Why do you hate black people so much?" he said, still imitating Malia in a baby voice.

"I'm part white, honey," Gray responded in the voice of the president.

Friday's segment ran just two days after another piece on Beck's radio program in which he decried critics of Sarah Palin's family. "Leave people's families alone. I don't think I've ever... We've never done anything but protect families... Leave families alone," he said at the time.

Under criticism from liberal blogs like Media Matters and others, Beck issued an apology saying, "I broke my own rule about leaving kids out of political debates."

"The children of public figures should be left on the sidelines," Beck wrote. "It was a stupid mistake and I apologize -- and as a dad I should have known better."

As much as I dislike him, you do have to give him credit for apologizing.

So despite the fact that it has been shown to you repeatedly that many Presidents have not attended the Memorial Day ceremony at Arlington you still post a link with someone saying that Obama was the first to break tradition.

Why? It looks like he was browbeaten into apologising rather than doing it because he realised he'd gone too far. He doesn't deserve any credit at all for that.

Sheesh. I misread this thread title as: Obama Memorial Day Speech Cut Short By Palin.

That would have been a fun (and probably bloodthirsty) topic.

SPIN.

Then dispute it by making an argument, not by this ridiculous post.

I see dude.

But tell me what difference it makes dude.

Because, dude, if you want to make the argument that honoring our war dead can only happen at Arlington then it should not make a difference whether we are at war or not.  We have National Cemeteries all over the country dude.

Are the soldiers buried there any less important than those buried at Arlington?

You miss the point.

We are a nation of traditions.   One that was snubbed.

I don't need to, once was enough to realize this whole thread is the spin you try to disclaim and say others are doing.

It's just as well. How can you take a President serious who never served in the military himself, and probably would have ran to Canada during Vietnam?

How was it snubbed?

By going to another national cemetery besides Arlington?

And how was that different than Bush being in Europe in 2002, when we were "at war" as you made the distinction earlier, and missing any ceremony in this country?

Yes, I know.

Dubya was instrumental in defending Texas and Alabama from the Viet Cong invasion.

Bush is on my shit list too.   Believe me- my displeasure with Obama does not mean I wish to return to neo-con-ville.

It is cool that Obama is not stoic and wishes to update and re-invent the US.  But this was a bad call.    It just was.

And candidly if neo-cons and neo-libs are my only choice for America- I doubt I would thrive, enthusiastically stay here- with the zest that I do now.

I wasn't aware I was only allowed to reply to to posts directed at me.

But I'll keep that in mind Pahunk, and remind you in the future when you do the same.

What the hell does that mean?/

Lets recap.

Obama made a bad choice.   A very bad choice. His ego and arrogance is WRONG in regards to dissing Arlington.

However- some here take my thoughts as a cheerleader for neo cons.  And that is not acceptable to me.

I think certain individuals imbue Arlington with WAY more significance than it is entitled to. It is simply "a" National Cemetary.
