A electrical engineering friend of mine caught a zinger from his wife like that - she's older than him, so turned 40 first.

Him: I'm gonna trade you in for two twenties!
Her:  But honey, you aren't rated for 220!

Per a 70 year old.

Trade him in for 2 - 35 year olds?

I saw a profile from a girl in her 20's who stated she only wanted men over 55.....it was wierd, being categorically exempted as too young, by a girl my son's age.

OP, I would never hook up with "just anyone".  I want her to be a certain gender, a submissive, of a certain attractiveness and intelligence level, accepting of my religion, etc.  In other word, I have standards.  I expect that others do as well.  If age is a part of her criteria, so be it.

coughs....not that you are looking to hook up with anyone since I am your girlfriend and all Steven....right?

Every day, in every way, you are getting OLDER!

But they'll still always be younger than you.

...such as assuming that anyone under, say, 26, will be immature, inarticulate, and not someone I want to spend time with.
Unfortunately in my experience, this tends to be the case so I simply don't spend time with them. I embrace my -ism.

I'm also a bit hypocritical in being offended when someone assumes I'm immature and inarticulate because of my age. Hey, it's not a perfect system.

So what you are doing is categorizing people based on age instead of evaluating them as an individual.

personally ..i dont think that its a BAD or Insulting thing to say that younger people ( 20's and early 30's) are young and inexperienced.. compared to someone in their 40's and 50's this is an obvious true statement in most cases.. and, we as a group, should just be accepting of each others choices and thoughts as long as they are not hurtful or meanspirited. my daughter is 30 .. not totally a mature person in mind or age... less in mind than age however.. and her mindset is not mine.. i love being around her.. have things in common even.. but to have a long term relatinship with someone that doesnt even know their own mind yet isnt something i wish to do. Seems alot use words like.. Never and for sure when talking about things in their life such a children and jobs and where they want to be in life or in how they think. Personally i believe it is about mid 30's when we finally settle in and understand where we are headed and what we need in life. Its easy to use absolutes when ones world is only 20 something yrs old! .. Experience counts and its not a bad thing Not to have it.. just a fact. With age Usually comes experience and some sort of wisdom.

I've known people in their 60's and 70's who were less mature than those in their 20's or 30's.

It's not the experience that counts but what you learn from that experience.
