My very successful fat poll unfortunately was pulled.

Having your poll taken away from you isn't exactly the measure of success.....Rule. Unless the object was getting 3 posts in before the whole thing disappeared.

If I recall correctly my fat poll garnered somewhere between 120 and 140 votes and had many pages of replies - and would have had many more pages if I initially had not asked people to post no replies. It was my most successful poll ever and the results started to be significant.

Significant to what?

How will this poll ever be significant? What percentage of people who use the forum are submissive? what percentage use that use this section? which group is more likely to read the thread? What is severe depression? What is occasionally? What is depression? What will this poll ever hope to prove?

Significant compared to the control group(s).

I recall that....it was a fine achievement...bordering on a work of art. All the superlatives in the world could never in a million years express just how glorious your 'fat poll' was. Though I did hear that 120 was probably closer to 1.20 replies. Never mind....quality over quantity.

What is the control group? Quite obviously there is no statistical validity period.

Additionally, you do realize that it's estimated that over 50% of the adult american female population has taken anti-depressants or anti-anxiety medication at some point in their lifetime don't you? It shouldn't be remotely suprising to you that female subs that (at least partially) come from that population may have done so as well.

Out of interest....what was this poll?

How fat are you?....vaguely...supremely....deceptively?

Do you like being fat?...always.....usually.....only when similar proportioned people are in the vacinity?

Can fatness ever be eradicated?....of course.....hmmmm......it's a utopian ideal......I like pies so mind your own?

Is fatness a liberal disease?....yes...yes....probably....ask the liberals?

When is the best time to house the fat people in a death camp?.....now.....I'm just having a drink with my brother so when I've finished this.......tomorrow......there's no rush they're fat so they're not going anywhere?

These are the great challenges of our day that need to be unearthed.

I don't know, nor do I really care how one would define a "genuine" Dom.
In the words of the prophet, Popeye the sailor: "I ams what I ams and that's all that I ams."
I'm Dominant and have never suffered from depression. Life is too good to be depressed.

I thought that you asserted that you recalled my fat poll? Then why ask questions that indicate that you do not recall my fat poll?

There are a lot of questions that come up about people involved in BDSM on a lot of different topics.  The two mentioned in this thread (weight and mental health) have been asked a number of times as far as what percentage of folks fall into certain categories.  I don't think it's that unusual to be curious about these things, even when it's impossible to get an answer.

There was a thread recently about mental illness that was very interesting.  I look at this as, yes, there absolutely are people on the planet who are not legally sane.  Being no different than any other cross section of society, I'm betting that there are people who are not legally sane involved or interested in BDSM.  I would love to know what the percentage of that really is, even though I'll probably never find out.

Wait statistics don't care about other statistics?

Rule , this is clearly coming from the crap you have been spouting in the other thread, you won't prove anything here apart from the fact that you are trying to be controversial but whatever gets you off

That is correct. There are two groups in this poll - true subs and genuine dom(me)s, so chosen for a reason that I will not disclose - and if there are significant differences between both groups this poll will show them differences, provided sufficient appropriate people vote. Any other statistics are not relevant. I do not care whether some have been brought by the stork and others have been found in a pumpkin field - and neither does the poll care about such other statistics.

I don't really view CM polls as scientific.    Where is your control group?

/  but then it is your project.    even if 200 people replied- ... ah - seems ... in-sufficient to me.

300 data points is usually seen as an ideal minimum. (Of course a statistician often would like to have more data points.)

But statistics has been done with far smaller groups.

In my more complex fat poll it got to be interesting with about 130 votes.

In this more simple poll it might start to get interesting with around eighty votes.

This poll is not about such things as a burn-out, nor about people that feel a bit sad or not sad when their goldfish dies.

It is about having or not having severe depression(s).
