A buddy of mine told me something I did not know about him. When he moves he doesn't take the stuff.

I mean he will take his important papers like car titles, tools, mainly stuff out of the basement and garage, but nothing else. He might take his fridge and stove, possibly washer and dryer, but when it comes to anything else, couches, beds, dressers even the silverware, he sees a new place as a new place and just changes all that stuff out. Doesn't care a damn about it. I mean tables and chairs, hutches and all that, just leave it. Curtains, throw rugs, probably half of his clothes.

I don't quite understand the mentality yet, but I thought it intriguing.

Neither can I, however, I'm moving into a smaller place and actually lived in a larger place before this one and should have gotten rid of much more than I did.  I'm in the process of getting rid of even more stuff.   Thankfully, I was able to sell the dining table and chairs, the entertainment center, one of my cabinets, and a desk that I had disassembled and sitting in a closet since I've been here.  Everything else is going to whoever I can find to come get it.  Everything else I'm getting rid of, that is.  The stuff that I'm taking, it's still going to cost a lot to move it.  I'm tired of packing and I don't sleep well, which makes me very tired these days.  I will not part with my shoes or my clothes!

WOOHOO!!!!  I found the drill!  I thought it was GONE!  Oh well, I still got a brand new Dremel out of the deal!  YAY ME!  I ROCK!  And all my drill bits are in there, too!  Power tools, gotta love 'em!

I so HAPPY!  Exhausted, but happy!

I don't have a tool belt.  You know what I really want though?  Is one of those tiny circular saw, what is it called?  It's for highly detailed work.  I can't remember the name of it.  But this is why I like power tools.  I made this from a dresser that somebody was throwing away.  I did the paint and everything!

I used to wear a tool belt when I built houses.


-- yet out of 70 guys there- only 3 I would consider decent.   That is not too impressive.

when you already talk about tools...any idea what the tool is called which you can use to cut a whole into wood? and nope I dont mean to damage the wood from the sides, I just wanna cut a hole into the roof of my chicken hutch to put in my cat flap...originally my dad would have done it for me but since I missed my flight home I have to do it myself [>:] However, just thought, before I ask at the DIY store to ask you folks, in case there is such a smarty underneath who knows that...so as I said...a tool to put a whole into the midden of a wooden board, but not a saw to start cutting it from the outside [8|]

Sounds like an awl. I cannot remember anything from Grandpa, but when we were building the house (the one that was on fire in '98) he custom built the cabinetry.

ETA: You are looking for a jigsaw. You start off sawing one interior hole in the portein(?) in the piece that wwill be discarded and follow the pattern etched out for you.

Now..if the toolbag is hanging on a set of manly torso...I will be thinking impure thoughts.

I'm not sure I understand what you want.  Do you want a hole through the wood, or just a small hole that doesn't go all the way through, like to fit a peg in?  How big do you want the hole to be?  You could use a drill with a drill bit the correct size.  If you want a groove, I would suggest a router.  I don't have very much experience using routers, though, but they are awesome.  You can use them for carving designs and stuff like that.  But if you were to take a piece of wood and you wanted to run a groove from one end to the other that would leave the wider sides untouched, I would suggest a router of some sort, but it's not that easy.  I would really have to see an example of what you were talking about.  I know a little about tools and making stuff, but not a lot.  Most of what I know is through trial and error.  And again, I would need to see an example of what you were talking about.

Dont worry DS, I decided today to use my electric screwdriver/driller to do that....simply as it does the same job and so does not cost me any money for buying a tool which I will only need once now...so I will just drill one hole after another in the middle of that wooden plate until it is big enough to put my cat flap in [:)] guess I will do that about 5am tomorrow, when my flat will be clean and spacious enough to do that [:)] (and my electric tool will be charged as well...though have to find it in my chaos[8|])
