ORIGINAL: flcouple2009 Maybe, just maybe because they seem fixated upon Mexicans and largely ignore the hordes of Eastern Europeans that are here illegally. IMO the difference between Mexican illegal immigration and other nationalities is the fact that only Mexicans are able to illegally enter the US...sin papeles, as it were. If this were really a "racial" issue, there would be just as much furor over Africans and Asians who immigrate here illegally in the same way the Eastern Europeans do - overstaying a tourist or student visa. The difference between all those people and Mexican illegal immigrants is that anyone immigrating from overseas is, in some form or another, documented. Mexico shares a border with the US and the sheer number of Mexican illegal immigrants drives home the point that that border is not secure. So the issue is twofold, not only are they immigrating illegally, they are able to enter the US illegally, and that takes it to another level over the rest of the immigrants, black, white, whatever, who enter the US legally then stay illegally.
