Simple question. Is the above statement racist or not?

Only if he is pointing the gun, at arm's length, sideways at the BP executive whilst aiming for the bollocks in a slanty downward fashion.

Body language is everything.....[8D]

Add some yo yo yo `s and it`s gangsta.....

I hear cons often reference President Obama to "gangs".....

What`s that about?

You don't understand the difference between a matter of fact and a matter of opinion.

I think I was pretty clear on that subject

"I think the world is flat" does not mean one is entitled to that opinion, as it isn't a matter of opinion.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion no matter how ill informed or irrational it may be.
It is opinion not fact.

No, adults don't conduct conversations that way. Not unless they're clueless.

Do you mean that adults do not define their terms?
Do you mean that adults do not agree to the definitions of words?
Do you mean that adults do not agree to be rational and logical when they discuss a given topic?

You got what you asked for.

No I did not

You don't like it. Fine. But my work is done here.

If that is all you've got then your work is done here

Yeah, especially since he just demonstrated what I told him was the problem.

Only if Rush or Savage says it.

In the context and knowledge that rush and savage really are genuine racists,a joke like would be in bad faith and not satire.

Genuine racist? Give over.....the bloke has said something that where said by someone from the right it would have led to one conclusion. Be honest.

Well, Farrakhan HAS told some jokes, but they sure as hell were not funny.
And BTW- practically everything he says is not true.

What I said was that I had not heard him say anything that was not true. Would you be so kind as to disabuse me of my ignorance?

Just a few quotes from Farrakhan:

When a black person is grabbed up and lynched that is pretty much "prima facia" evidence for that dead person being chattle property.

It does not take a very deep read of those to find the truth in his statement

That seems pretty straight forward. Aren't we currently involved in thugging some arabs out of thier shit....hardly an "evolved" position on the scale of humanity.

How many dead iraquies and afghanies are there so far?

Still waiting.

[:D]WOW. A white who has racist beliefs against other whites. Its very rare to meet someone like you.  To quote Florence, the maid on the Jeffersons  "How come we overcame and nobody told me?" [:D]
My discussion with you ends here. Peace.

Owner59 -> RE: Is this a racist comment? (6/3/2010 1:40:56 PM)

I once heard him say the African Americans and African culture had no part in influencing American culture.

Not only wrong, but racists IMO.Why else would he go there?

Later, when challenged by his on callers,it sharpened the point a bit more by saying specifically, middle Congo Africa, you know, the blacks, had no influence on American culture.

I don`t know where to begin to unfold that twisted logic, accept to say that Rush has a problem with black people.

The "Barack the magic negro song he played over and over and over, questioning the estimated number of African slaves who died or were murdered en-route to the American/British markets and on and on makes me think he`s got race issues. Is he blatantly racist? No,but it`s not hard to type around the margins, nod nod, wink wink.

In fairness, that's their incentive, not their intent. Republicans prove over, and over, that folks can vote against their interests.

Oh no,

it`s both.

We just have to make it cost more than it pays,by exposing it.It up to them to end it as official policy.

He's obviously not big on pop music, then. What would you have without the black elements to that? There's even a fair whiff of the blues in a lot of the better country stuff.

Perhaps it isn't that they are voting against their interest.  Perhaps they simply disagree with you about what their interest actually are.

Yeah...your most successful exports are soul music and errmmm...

Regardless...you and I know that what the bloke in the OP said was racist in terms of the norm....doesn't matter what anyone else said.

FR:
Obama with a gun and announcing that "there is a new sherrif in town" may not be too far off the mark.
It seems likely that some suits will be going to jail.

Well, if you're one of those anal-retentive politically correct goosesteppers *everything* is racist! (Maybe we should start calling them, "correcters?")
I recently discovered Bill Maher and I think he's pretty funny. A good and creative comedian who seems to like to push the envelope. What's wrong with that?
If he "likes" Obama that's his business.

How does one have racists beliefs and not be a racists?
I pointed out the validity of the mans statements and nothing more.
