hi.

,

was wondering if there is any particular energy or spiritual element involved in partial moon eclipses - the next one is on the 26th of this month - have done a brief search and havent come up with anything much at all.

maybe someone has a link to a good site on this.

Energy? No, actually there is a lack of solar radiation energy on that part of the Moon that is eclipsed by the Earth, so that part becomes not only dark, but colder as well.

Spiritual element? Yes. You can meditate and reflect on the nature of the Moon as a being that can so easily be deprived of something good (such as sunlight) by something that is so important to it - the Earth.

You can imagine that the Earth is a Master, the Moon is a Slave, and the sunlight is something that slave likes, but is deprived of by Master.

However, this deprivation is only temporary, just to tease him a little, and very soon, the Moon (slave) is in the sunlight again.

But even before this, he continued to orbit the Earth (obey the Master) even though it was in the darkness for a while.

Through the darkness into light, everything for the Master.

The moon is feminine. She is represented by Diana, but I suppose for a partial lunar eclipse, it could represent the Mother aspect, that being halfway between the Maiden and the Crone?

Perhaps also, the veil between the worlds becomes thinner like at Samhain? Maybe represents the world between worlds such as the dream state. Not quite in the world of the living but not in the world of the dead, either.

I didn't look anything up, but just some thoughts off the top of my head based on my own understandings of pagan spirituality.

2010 Jun.26th 7am 174°W, 23°S: Samoa Is a partial eclipse actually. For many Wiccans, eclipses, represents a convergence of solar and lunar events in which followers of the ancient nature-based belief system celebrate the nature of the relationship between gods and goddesses.

For most Wiccans, the moon is a goddess and the sun is a god and eclipses bring them together in a very special union.

It's considered a very magical time and many witches will save certain spells and learning rituals for these powerful and special events. While eclipses are important to me , I don't usually celebrate them as part of my regular temple routine, like the temple's eight annual Sabbats held on Saturdays following full moons.

I think you need to say what kind of pagan you mean. I am a pagan, a hereditary english witch, but there are hundreds of different kinds of pagan, doing lots of things at lots of times. I was taught that eclipses, partial or total, are like changes in a sea tide and that you stop all practical work at that point until the event stops.
You would not try to swim through a rip tide. I would not do anything of a spiritual nature on one of those days or nights.

thanks foxxie, trouble is i am doing something and theres no turning back. i know that many dont use solar or lunar eclipses for magic, that this is a 'tough' one and i have to be equipped - a friend has sent me heaps on it and there are some that do use eclipses, but you have to be prepared. ive been preparing for a couple of months now.

and im just youre regular friendly neighbourhood witch really
