my D and i are novice. i have had mildly more experience than Him, but only in time of intrest, not physical encounters.

my point [and sorry if this was a post already, i couldnt find one]

what are some good techniques for, anything, spanking, bondage, whatnot. W/we are fully involved, but to as far as i know He has not spoken to other masters on gritty details on the 'how to' end. i am curious, if we do it 'correctly'.

i am just looking for a tip sheet of sorts to pass onto him [with permission of course, i do most of the research for U/us as He is a very busy grad student].

thank you much - mixie

There are some wonderful non-fiction books out there (Including my own).  I strongly recommend that you look at the Greenery Press website (www.greenerypress.com) and a few others to see the selection that's available

Go out and buy the book - The Loving Dominant by John warren (Also known as Mentor).  I consider it 'the bible' in that I have found it to be the best book covering all aspects of BDSM and play.  It explains things from both a Dominant and submissive viewpoint.

Cuddle up one evening, read it together and then get down to some enjoyable play.

Have fun and play safe.

Greenery Press is a great resource but don't forget your local used bookstores, SM101 has been around for years and can often be found along with a few of the other classics.

Screw the Roses is another excellent book, especially for technique, it is probably one of the better for a general book.

The Topping Book and the Bottoming book cannot be recomended highly enough, I swear I am going to start buying them in bulk, I give so many away.

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen;
REFERENCE CD-ROM

I am unable to send the CD-ROM through E-mail.  The volume of information, to include illustrations max out and exceeds any sending of files one at a time as well.  So, I need a physical post office mail box to send the CD-ROM to.

I apologize if there was any confusion.

One of these years I should get a publisher.

Respectfully submitted,
Lady Hugs

Though I am in now way putting down reading about and studying these subjects at great length, I would say that in addition to doing your homework, do what feels right. After playing for awhile his dominant side will come out with little or no effort, possibly at the wrong times. Nothing like a sultry swing through the kitchenwares section of Bed Bath and Beyond or a trip to the Home Depot to get the blood pumping.

Oh my goodness, did Mr. Warren actually, finally, recommend his own wonderful book, The Loving Dominant? I'm so glad...It's a great book and there's no shame in patting your own back when you deserve it.

Lady,

I guess I am lucky to be in California where a small munch is 20 people, a casual party is 30, and tiny groups like the ones I ran had membership in the 100s and somebody like myself is considered a newbie with little to add to a scene rich in people with vast amounts of knowledge and experience to contribute.

Dear CrappyDom;

SIR--I am so thrilled you feel lucky to be in California. I’m also thrilled that you feel that your “wee” little group of a few hundred individuals, felt you were worthy of leading them forward, even though by your own words, were new and others had much more knowledge and experiences to contribute with. Sounds like they knew to let someone else tow the group in heavy yoke, as it allowed others to pursue the opportunity to share their knowledge and skills, take a needed break from the duties and responsibilities of running the group. Certainly sounds like the Sacramento Leather Association.

That said, “Luck” is what you make of it and or skew the word and the tone of it.

I give little focus on the numbers SIR. I rather focus on the quality of the total sum. I have found humble groups, with small memberships, due to the location and economic circumstances, to which every member tears their guts out to provide for membership; mostly in a honorable, compassionate and gracious manner. I have seen a group’s membership swell into the thousands however, most were members as to get a discount at the convention. I’ve seen groups have several hundred and die in three months time after conception. I’ve seen groups that attend only for status, not for learning--all it was; was a clique meeting to gush over the presenter. I’ve seen groups formed for personal gains, as to add it to their resume` as to get attention but, as soon as they win a title, get the seat on the group’s board of directors, drop their responsibilities and make others tow it out of a ditch.

Members make a group. Members make that group a success or failure. Members drive the group on track or into a ditch. Every member has a talent. Even if it is sweeping the floor; it is necessary and appreciated; as somebody would have to do it. But, no group is a party/person of one.

So, SIR -- May I inquire, if your post was to imply, that other than California, other states, commonwealths, territories are “unworthy” because of the structure of their groups have a smaller number of members?

SIR --I realize that your style is to be a curmudgeon but, I do ask you to please do not judge groups against your own. Each serves in their own ways, in their communities.

Submitted for consideration,
Lady Hugs
