And for the world.

Amazing what leadership can do to get things done.I think anti-intellectuals took a hit as Obama proved that unilateralism ,strutting and war mongering are counter productive.

"I am very happy, that we can stand here jointly today and say that this is a joint position not only of the European Union, the United States of America and Russia, but also of China," Merkel said. "That is an important step the international community has made here."

Yes, a press release about economic sanctions. Yay!!! The Iranians will never gat a bomb now! Shouldn't they have booked an aircraft carrier for something of this importance?

That you are so desperate for some "accomplishment" from this administration as to latch onto this as a "victory" ... Pathetic

An aircraft carrier with a "Mission Accomplished!" banner on it, may I ask?

Heretic, isn't this like the 20th time that Russia has pretended they would go along? He made a speech, durring a state visit, to get the German left (and their allies in the USA) all happy.

Wow, big news.

I have to wonder why if it was such a victory for Obama, he wasn't even mentioned in the article.

It`s his.

Instead of belligerence, name calling and immature saber rattling,he started a policy of engaging our friends and counterparts to find common ground in containing Iran`s nuke weapons. They finally got some agreements.

Hell of a lot better than some ridiculous declaration that Iran is part an "axis of evil" lol
(brings pinky finger to edge of mouth) w/ Iraq(their sworn enemy, dumb)and N Korea(dumber) which is stupidly wrong and hugely counter productive.

There is no chance in hell of stopping the Iranians w/out cooperation with the other leading nations.Like the Russians and China.

I know this isn`t as sexy as bombing, sorry republicans, for your boredom.

It's about as unsexy as Kim Jong Il in a thong, O59.

Love the new avatar, though. You might want to check with your handlers as to whether it's on the 'approved' list.

So what can we call it when Iran does get nukes?

Has anyone asked why Iran suddenly became so aggressive and belligerent around 2005, after being relatively quiet for like 20 years?

The orphans from the Iran-Iraq war needed time to grow up, and that's when Ahmadinejad was elected.

Maybe they were liberated by the sudden disappearance of their arch-rival Saddam Hussein, who had kept them at bay ever since the devastating war that killed about a million people.

Maybe their hand was strengthened by the sudden rise of a fellow Shiite government in Iraq, that turned a former enemy into an ally.

Maybe the chaos and turmoil of Iraq and Afghanistan/ Pakistan allowed them to do what had previously been impossible.

Somewhere a Persian mullah is kneeling and thanking Allah for providing the world with a man like George W. Bush.

Of course, I mean after all, it's not like anybody in power in the US before or since could have done anything about it, except typically a Reagan taking cynical advantage of the hostage affair. But hey, we all just know Jimmy Carter sure could have kept Iran inline...and he didn't. That scoundrel.

Maybe we should invade Iran.

They are part of the "Axis of Evil", aren't they?

We can't talk about Jimmy Carter anymore, he's been out of office for a year and a half now.

Wait............oh damn............my mistake, it's that Dubya guy we can't talk about anymore.
