"Ooops, I forgot my wallet (again). Can you cover it and I'll pay you back?"

What if it really was them and not you.

I cant be bothered with lies. I have enough trouble remembering the truth.

This is similar for me. I can remember the truth because it's true, but I learned my lesson young that I suck at remembering lies, so lying will get me into a lot of hot water. I just don't bother.

As for the OP, an ironic lie given the way the world operates today is *The truth shall set you free*

One moment please.

Now they can't say one second, they can't say one minute. But that would lead one to think that a moment is somwhere between. Not so, in reality one moment can be as short as a millisecond or as long as a year. A comprehensive analysis of human society has indicated statistically that this undefined interval is dependant upon the direction of the flow of money.

For example we know that when a bill is issued to us, say by a utility like the electric co or whatever, that bill is in your hands by the time the ink is almost dry. However when you send them the check in a barcoded, special envelope, with nine bucks worth of stamps on it, it can take from seven to three hundred days to get there. And distance doesn't matter.

I was buying harddrives from this one place, got one in June 2001. Got it on the 26th. The manufacture date was June 24th 2001. It came from Malasyia, but a check I was waiting for from 30 miles away took ten days to get here.

Notice I haven't even mentioned the phone. "One moment please" has got to be in the top ten somewhere.

Some Lies are like cheap bottles of wine passed off as being expensive champaign.
Intoxicating words you desired for the ear, it's everything you're wanting to hear.
Some lies are like sour notes of an out of tune piano, a little off time to the melody.
Some lies are like a mystery, to peek behind the darkness and see what's really underneath it.
Lies to trip and fall over, to break a crown, rolling down a hill and drowning a pail of water.
Like pulling on a loose thread sticking out and watching the rags fall and hit the floor.
The world can come undone in a single moment.

Some lies are cruel, Some lies less cruel. Intent and motive are everything.

To know what it's like to lie out of fear, or to lie to hide the shame of what one really is not, is to understand the hurt and fear inside another.

Some lies, simply use and abuse, not driven by fear nor hurt, they are as cold and dark as the bottom of the ocean.

Some lies, are little secrets, often thought about knowing the truth would hurt too damn much.

Some people lie more than others, but everybody lies in the end. It's the kind of lies, and the heart and motive which makes things a little less black and white.

I'm married but not in the traditional sense. My wife & I don't have sex anymore. We're only together for the sake of the kids.

sublizzie -> RE: lies (6/7/2010 8:03:02 AM)

If only I had a dollar for every time I've heard *that* one!

I hate:  "I'll be right back." They seldom are.

Toppingfrmbottom -> RE: lies (6/7/2010 8:24:41 AM)

Hey sometimes it happens. My aunt and uncle are married, but they are only still married because to them it's easier to be married but live kind of seperate lives than to divorce and start all over in life again at 70 odd years old. Now it's true it's kind of rare, and most are just using that line to get around anothers concerns about playing with someone who's duping a faithful spouse.

playfulotter -> RE: lies (6/7/2010 4:26:49 PM)

Actually I think the "It's not you, It's me" line is a valid reason for telling someone you are not compatible but in reality it is used as an excuse to let someone down easy or a lazy way to not have to explain in more detail...but it is lame to use it..There is a great "Seinfeld" episode where a girl used that one on the character George..ha ha..makes me laugh right now just thinking of his response to it!
