I don't find that to be so here,I do find people that are sure of what they seek...IF a slave of colour isn't for them so be it...I have a black and asian slaves and find that my tastes varys from year to year..so good luck to everyone and if you say no say it in a manner of respect

What I was referring to more in my post was the indiscrimate hate mail that comes my way... complete strangers sending rude, hateful messages with no other intent than to hurt. I don't think that's anything to do with this lifestyle, so much as it does the anonymity of the Internet. As far as this lifestyle goes, I'd say that being BBW is probably an advantage, because a lot of submissive men LOVE a large, curvilicious Goddess to adore! :)

I think that there are a lot of prejudices voiced here at one time or another and they are not all racial. The sad fact is that there is a lot of bias and prejudice in the world. Personal politics on collarme vary widely and there are so many different schools of thought. In order to try to remain civil and tolerant of everyone, I try not to foist my own viewpoint off on anyone or say that my way is the right way.

Prejudice that I've observed:
People on the boards who specify that they are looking for a particular race and this goes for white people who won't date black as well as white people who date only minorities.
Misogynism is another kind of hatred and I steer clear of the forums that espouse it.
Misandry is espoused by quite a few people as well.
Some people are openly intolerant towards transgendered people in their profile.
There are still a few people who are homophobic.
Fat intolerance is pretty rampant.
I've been contacted directly by people wanting me to dominate them in a roleplay of racist/slave which I find personally offensive. They claimed to be minority but it made me wonder. Although I can appreciate wanting to work out angst and anger towards racism I don't think this is the way to do it.

In a group of people who are so widely diverse I think that it is really important to try to be open and respectful of where other people are coming from. There is a way to say what you are looking for in your profile without being offensive to others, but let's face it, we are all different and do not want the same thing.

If I ever thought I could be submissive I would definately be crawling my size 14/16 (depending on the day...) butt to DiannaVesta's little farm. .......but, yeah!! what she said!!!! I got grief for cutting my hair short for crying out loud, helloooo....its HAIR...it GROWS!!! Don't let small minded people determine your own self value. AS the oldest of 6 kids and now the mother of two grown I have learned excellent "tuning out" skills. Just have to tune out the ugliness and find joy in the wonderful.

HarshReality: I'm sorry to read your post and hear of your decision. I've been here the better part of a year and haven't seen the problems you describe. That's not to say the problem doesn't exist -- obviously something happened and I respect your decision to move on. There is enough hate out here in the world without bringing it into our own homes. Although many of us do when we log onto the NET. I have pretty much seen & heard it all, being openly bisexual, black, female & submissive. There are many out here that only respond to my ad because they only have fantasies of sexually being with a black woman, not because they truly desire a slave.
When I started this journey back 3 years ago, I was naive. Now that I have had the time to learn more, I am even more intent on being owned. If you're Dominant, submissive, transgendered, Poly, trysexual..the color of your skin should only matter if you like marks left on your own skin. Which for me would be purple...LOL!! for me being chocolate.

I'd like to tell you not to leave HarshReality, if that carries any clout at all, from one who's been where you are, and am sure will be again.
I also know I am a sensitive human being, who cannot rationalize so much that my feelings fail to exist... So understanding that you feel hurt, I also understand you may need time to work this through.
I hope that you will either not leave, hang around for the decent folks here, or that you will come back in time making the ignorant uncomfortable by being yourself, and not paying them any more attention than they deserve.

Well, maybe shocked is the wrong word, and sure, it's possible I wouldn't recognize it. I'm not saying something didn't happen (because obviously it did) and I'm not saying racism doesn't exist here, because I can't say that.

I'm not a BBW and I've been able to detect people blasting BBWs, and I'm not a Gorean and I've seen people blast Goreans, etc. etc. So I don't think my radar for intolerance is completely busted. Maybe surprised is a better word. But again, I don't visit every thread in every forum so it's completely possible I just missed whatever it was that happened.

Harsh Reality

I'll just say that other than the comment someone made regards overweight women, I've seen very little prejudice on this site. As Lam has mentioned.... when it comes out, that person is called out on the carpet.

I spend about five nights outa the week chatting with one lady friend and constantly trade messages back and forth with two other lady friends, all three black women. Never once have I felt an inkling of prejudice from a single one of them. I agree with others... this site is very accepting of all types of people.

I've been privileged to own my African-American submissive for over a year now.

I recently went to a Domme tea, and he expressed an interest, but then said not all of the Dommes might be happy being served by a man of color. That startled me. We live in "liberal and free thinking Northern California," but he said he was only being realistic.

People in the lifestyle often seem to think of us as "elevated" above the "vanilla" population. Reading the forums, let alone what gets said in private messages, only proves that we're not.

Reality sucks (not you HarshReality... lol.. let's see how many more times I can stick my foot in my mouth... lol)... been there. I've gone so far as to disassociate with family members because they didn't approve of my black foster daughter.

HarshReality... don't leave over someone's ignorance, peer pressure comes from inside, don't allow it to govern your life. The only way to end the ignorance is to provide a united front. You have way to many people behind you and backing you up.

Not seen racial prejudice around here - cannot stand any form of prejudice - but you shouldn't leave because of a minority... Seen ageist people around, some saying I am too young and cannot possibly know what I want; some saying that my Dom is way too old for me. To all of them I say age in years does not matter. I know what I want, I understand the risks... and I have a fabulous Dom who I have an amazing connection with, so so what if he is much older then me? You have to realise that these people mean nothing... They are lowest of low, those so shallow they will hate you because of the colour of your skin.

I do not understand the racist/slave fetish... that seems to spring from some deep, not necessarily good, insecurities....

Can we say yet another "cry for attention post" ??

Notice how many people have made the comment that they have not noticed racial bias
within the forums, save one instance that happened a while back.

I recall HarshReality's first thread... where he was told that he post & profile screamed
of being a "do it to me my way" type. No matter how well you express your kink or how sincere you are about
it, for a bottom to focus only on obtaining what he/she wants out of an exchange will most likely been seen as
being that dreaded "do-me".

I'm betting dollars to donuts that this is the negativity he has been subjected to rather
than racial prejudice. If this is the case, shame on you for pulling out that card & playing it. So often examples
are seen where individuals have no other defense other than playing that racial card.

One last thing that I noticed & supports my suspicion of that cry for attention, your
profile is still open & you signed in since you said good-bye.

One last comment... there are so many threads about individuals who have faced
frustration & who consider leaving this way of life. This is a very common thing & many of us have been there. Now
the most common reply you will see in regards to this are the many who have tried to do this & each & every
one had that undeniable yearning to return.

Just goes to show us... running from our problems solves nothing.
