Has anyone here had to make a trip to the hospital due to their BDSM activities?  If so, what happened and what did you tell the people at the hospital and how did they react?

It hasn't happened yet, but there was a brief moment during a "let's saw these malfunctioning handcuffs off" incident when I imagined myself having to explain a few things to the authorities. Luckily, no hospital visit was involved.

People in emergency departments have seen everything. You aren't apt to shock them. Well, a few of the newer employees may be a wee bit shocked but most of them will brush it off - in front of you. But when they're on break they'll be laughing over the whole thing. You'll become one of their "You'll never believe this one" stories.

Yup!  My best friend is a physician in the ER, and i get to laugh at a new story almost every week.  Sometimes, i am amazed that he is able to keep a straight face when the patients are telling him what happened.  i would have been laughing uncontrollably.  But i guess that's why i don't work in the ER.

Guilty, I once threw myself naked onto a bed with silk sheets, slid right across it like it was ice and hit the dressing table resulting in concussion. My partner couldn't help as she was tied up and ballgagged at the time.
We have brought down the ceiling in a hotel room during a suspension game. That resulted in bruising and a bill. I once had to knock down a sub girls very brave younger brother who found us in a bondage fuck, he was nineteen and quite naive.
Don't count the zip cuts, candle wax scaldings, carpet burns, and how many times I have had my foreskin bit by over excited girls.
But the prize for my worst BDSM injury goes to a shattered nose when a girl got severe and almost instant cramp and started kicking, she had legs like a racehorse.
For the record I had started untying her and she was covered in blood from my almost flat snozzle. We didn't have a second session.

Things i have seen myself in my years in the medical field   -  the man who was playing with himself and thought it would be a good idea to slide his titanium wedding ring onto his penis. Of course, it got stuck, and hes penis swelled and since he didn't want to tell his wife, he called his mother to take him to the ER.
He required general anaethesia and two diamond edged blades on the ring cutter to get it off - as well as half an hour of sweat on the surgeons part. His penis looked nasty - the tip had folded on itself  and the whole thing was so swollen it looked unreal.   The moral of this story is not to put anything on your penis that is harder than 14 carat gold!   Needless to say he was in agony before the surgery.

The other things i have not actually seen, i just heard about them second hand - as in from work mates when i came on shift  -  long skinny pickle bottles up the rectum, with the open end out - or actually in because it got sucked in. Then it created a vacuum when trying to pull it out so it wouldn't come out. That one necessitated a trip to the OR as well.

The man who came in with a potato up his butt and insisted he fell on it. The man who came in with a lacerated rectum and said he fell on a stop- which apparently a southern expression for a stump.  The lady who came in the day before her wedding - she was having an allergic reaction to latex - where she and her fiancee were anticipating the ceremony a day early.  Hey! at least they were using a condom.(that one is actually not bdsm related but is pretty funny)

There probably were some other ones, but the injuries i have seen were the result of using household items instead of actually buying the proper things. You would think with the internet and sex shops being so visible, people would have enough sense to go out and get the real thing, not improvise and get injured and wonder why???   I mean, how much can a cock ring cost?????????????????   A whole lot less than an ER visit and a trip to the OR i guarantee you.

haha Well, not exactly. But awhile back i showed up in the E.R. for something & i had a locked chain collar on. They asked what it was. i told them "i'm a kinky slave and it's a locked slave collar." They had this "No shit!?" look on their faces and just turned red and cut it off w/ bolt cutters. The looks on their faces were priceless.

See - medical people are human too  -  and believe me, in this day of customer courting, they aren't going to do anything to you if they feel disgusted by what they are told or see. Infact i know a couple of really good nurses that were fired for not being "friendly enough" with their patients.

Actually, i was taught that you never show your negative feelings to your patients - that they have enough to bear just by being in the position they are in.  Professional people don't retribute - they take care of business and get you the hell out of their ER, OR or where ever.

I do know a guy who had a whole crystal candlestick surgically removed... and went on to play more!! He and his wife are AWESOME personified!! It's all about the adventure, right?

Me, I have to replace the stuff in my first aid kit because it gets old. Sigh. And I'm DangerDom for heaven's sake!

Same here, and i was taught in nursing school that one does NOT let her personal biases or opinions affect patient care.

I wish more folks felt the way you did when old folks are the patients!! But that's a whole other soapbox!

When i was younger i was having sex with an old girlfriend, after we finished she went to the bathroom to clean up. The condom had slid off at some point and i was looking everywhere but couldent find it. She came back out and said she thought it was stuck in her so she went back into the bathroom to get it removed. After 20 min she comes out with a big dumb grin on her face and said that after 'violateing herself' with no results she sat on the edge of the tub with her legs spread, took the shower head and filled her vagina with water, and then PUSHED! She said it shot out like a rocket and hit the wall and then slowly fell. She was sure we were going to have to go to the hospital. I just wish i would have gotten it on tape. :)

Aww... You poor thing!!! *coos softly to him as she holds him gently and kisses the side of his head* You've had the worst of it haven't you? *laughs softly not wanting to deflate his already injured ego from all those trips to the doctor*

I hope you have a very long time before the next incident. *smiles*

Best of luck,

Silver

Absolutely, it does not affect care. And they won't tell anyone about who came in for what. But they will probably snicker about it after you leave. At the hospital I used to work at, there may have been a game aptly named "what's in my ass?" where people took guesses as to what they were seeing on X-ray. It was particularly popular with the Residents. Attendings had seen it all and found it generally less titillating.

It is my goal to be in the center of as many "you'll never believe this one" stories as possible. I believe I'm already in two or three. Shooting for at least a hundred before I die.
