LOL, I didn't even know that feature was even there. I guess I should explore a little more. Found the message boards and pretty much stopped using the main site.  Hmmmm, cool I got some admirers. Wonder how long they've been there?

ChainedExistence -> RE: Favourite users and Admirers (4/12/2006 3:23:15 AM)

I do find it a little odd when someone adds you onto their list but never sends you a note. I don't expect an on-going conversation,, but letting me know why , (I like to read your journal, what IS that avatar?, your Master is Hot-sure you won't let me have him?, The aliens told me to contact you, .....)lets me at least satisfy my curiosity about why they added my name in the first place.  I don't mind my name being on someone's list-I've always thought it was a little flattering . It's never occured to me that it might be for joking purposes. So much for my inflated self-esteem..haha!
Master's name is on my favorite's list..but that's so I can click on it and put his profile right on top. CollarMe likes to default to the first profile with a picture, so I am regularly welcomed by the face of Mr. Luis, who may be a nice man, but who isn't my Dom.   I have put people on my list from time to time if I like to read what they write in their journal. Some people never post here, but write wonderful journal entries. I'm a lover of words...and when someone writes well, I'm compelled to want to see what else they have to say.

ownedgirlie -> RE: Favourite users and Admirers (4/12/2006 7:41:27 AM)

Wow i had never paid attention to those little buttons on the left until you all pointed them out to me by this thread!  So i added some folks to favorites.....to stalk them!  (heh)

Okay more seriously...i did it to see if there is a benefit to doing so or not.  Will this show if they are online? (rhetorical question; i will find out soon enough).  And if they don't want me to know for some reason, they can hide to me, right? (Not a very effective stalking tool).  Having this list may be a useful way of knowing if those i correspond with via email are online or not.  Not sure how useful that is either but what the heck. FirmhandKY -> RE: Favourite users and Admirers (4/12/2006 12:24:09 PM)

I wrote a long entry in my journal about the "Favorites" button, so that if any one had a question, they might be able to find out why they were there.  Here is part of that entry:

***

On slaverosebeauty's "blog_of_shame" she also makes a big deal about men putting her on their "Favorites" list, and then never contacting her. She actually BANS them if they haven't sent her an email within 48 hours.

Whoooweee.

I hope I haven't tick anyone off.

I will put a woman on my Favorite's list for several different reasons. None involve stalking, thank you very much.

Obviously, the primary reason is that you have caught my attention in some way. But I may not contact you for a simple reason - I don't meet your qualifications or requirements 100%, or I have doubt that I do. If I think things may change - especially on my end - I don't want to lose you due to inattention, so I'll "Favorite" you, and check back occasionally. I know the odds are that you'll be gone, or that you may have found what you are looking for. And that's good for you. Not so good for me, but at least I've not made a fool out of myself.

Another reason is that I simply can't shotgun people. If I've sent an opening email to someone, and they have responded favorably, and we start talking, it is really difficult to get to know multiple people at the same time.

There are less likely reasons that I might have put you on my Favorites list as well, although they aren't "bad" reasons.

One is that your profile impressed me but I know that I'm never going to connect, but I'd like to see what happens to you. How long does it take for you to find the person you are looking for, or how long before you get more directive about what you want, or desire in a Dom?

Occasionally I just like your photo or how you said something in your profile.

Regardless of the reason, I've no desire to intrude on you and if I've got you marked on my list, and you wish me to remove it, simply ask.

Finally, I use the Favorites list for a "cooling off" function. Like any man, sometimes the wrong head wants to think for me, so I try to use my cerebellum rather than the little head to think. Rather than immediately firing off a letter in the heat of attraction, I'll put you on Favorites, and come back to you in a few days, or a week or so and have a second look.

More, next time.

***

There could be a couple of other reasons that I didn't mention, and one of them was tracking someone's journal that I found interesting as well.

sultryvoice -> RE: Favourite users and Admirers (4/12/2006 1:03:59 PM)

I never use the favorites button. But, I am on quite a few lists of others. I have gotten emails for about 1/3 of them. It has changed, more add, some drop or leave collarme. I am flattered by it but I don't put any stock in it.

Respectfully,
sultry

Lordandmaster -> RE: Favourite users and Admirers (4/12/2006 1:17:53 PM)

I put people in my Favorites list just to piss them off.

Or to let'em know I want to fuck them, but usually I send a thrilling note in that case.

I had about ten people on my favorites list, but then some woman in my area (who was on my favorites list) threw a hissy fit in her profile a few days ago about how subs are "stalking" her by having her in their favorites. I thought about it for a short bit and then decided to remove everyone from my favorites list.

You too huh? I had no idea people would get upset over that, I'm flattered when someone adds me to their favorites list, whether they email me or not. Granted I've put people on my favorites list and forgotten why later... I just leave it there thinking it'll come to me... I'm a fairly busy person most of the time... with that and AAADD (age activated attention deficit disorder)... lol

obis -> RE: Favourite users and Admirers (4/12/2006 6:36:39 PM)

I put people there for many reasons. Some are ones from the board I just want to keep track of, read journals, etc. Others are ones I run across and find something so silly or outlandish I just have to see if it's real or if the profile will disappear in a day. I track locals just because I'd like to recognize them if we meet at an event. Some newbies strike a sympathetic paternalistic chord in me and I sort of "keep an eye" on them . Others just have cute photos. Very few seem like the kind of person my Riv would like to meet, so I add them to HER favorites list and leave it to them :)

Yeah, you and Mr. Luis. What's a man to do?

TemptingNviceSub -> RE: Favourite users and Admirers (4/12/2006 8:30:57 PM)

LOL...AAADD...oh wow..I soo know that feeling...As far as the favorites list  I have only one on there...and as far as admirers..for the most part half of my admirers either never contacted me..or we met and the interest was'nt there..I think some just simply forget to keep it up to date...But as all have said kinda nice when I see new name pop up..and ..they actually contact me..(grin)..be well..Tempting

cloudboy -> RE: Favourite users and Admirers (4/12/2006 8:43:48 PM)

My favorite users include my favorite reads on the CMMB and the folks I sometimes turn to for PM counseling and exchanges.

As for admirers group, if I beg someone long enough, their profile may appear there for a day or two.......

Lately I am keeping track of the "dead dom syndrome." I also find what people say about their dead dom interesting.

Geez....I thought I was the only one that was doing statistical analysis on the vastly increased chances of dying young when a person is a dominant!  So sad....so many Doms dying young.  What is a poor submissive to do?
I wonder if we could somehow get the word out on how old tired the dead dom syndrome is...
I opened my profile again, and in less than 24hours, 3 subs with dead dominas, granting one said the dead dom died at 75, which is believable. [sm=whap.gif]        M

ServiceNTucson -> RE: Favourite users and Admirers (4/12/2006 11:22:31 PM)

I use it to keep track of a few people whose online journals I like to read.

CERCKL -> RE: Favourite users and Admirers (4/12/2006 11:24:31 PM)

I'm not certain about the admirers list...I have one Dom, two Dommes, lotus and a sub who had been on the boards up until a month ago...now why I attract dominants I don't know...though a slight step into another thought, I noticed that lotus told me since she changed her profile, mentioning she has a Master, she seems to have gained the attention of a lot of Doms...

Well, I don't understand neither why such a reject of the Admirers list. We might put someone on the list, just to let him/her know that we  are interested in. In case he/she finds something interseting in the profile, she might reply. If not, how to show that we are interested and want to start a conversation? By the usual and boring mail "I've read your profile, and I find you very pretty/interesting/sexy/lovely/etc..." ? Adding someone on the list is just like a wink.

You get that in the right order Lam?

Should it be fuck them and then piss off? [;)]

FirmhandKY -> RE: Favourite users and Admirers (4/13/2006 10:19:34 PM)

I think I just figured out a few more uses for the "Favorite" function.

Put YOURSELF on your OWN favorites list!

This first gives you the feeling of being desired, because then you have someone who has placed you on their Admirers list.
You can send yourself emails, even!  And get that "New Message" rush, any time you need it!
Second, it allows you to go immediately to your own profile without clicking and scrolling through the "Edit Profile" and the "View Profile"
Finally, its a nice color contrast to see that pretty blue over on your Favorites list, with all those pink colored subs.

or have become friendly here on line with them in CM. I use favorite button

you know i never really thought of it as a way to keep track of ppl i've become friendly with, or even talk to here on CM.  i usually use it as a way to keep track of ppl that interest me, ppl i think are sexy (grins), erm.. ppl i would like to get to know.. or ppl i'm getting to know.. but dont really "know"

Basically a way to keep track of strangers.

MstrFury -> RE: Favourite users and Admirers (4/14/2006 4:40:37 PM)

I use the Fav to keep up with those I have interest in or that have a profile that catches my attention....or if they are local to me...

(side note to the local issue)...one I listed to contact at a later time and say hello...welcome to CM...and I had intended to encourage them to come to the local munch which would be meeting the following week.....no sooner had I listed it I got the nastiest mail demanding I remove them from my list NOW...as they had no interest in...(I hate to even say this.) a Black Dom.......so much for trying to be friendly and welcome someone new to my area and to the site...

and if I do list someone...I don't jump on them right away...I've heard the horror stories of the bizillions of mail dumped on new people....I let them ease their way through the process of learning what's going to happen to them because of either what they look like if they post a picture..or what they say or list as interests...

and then there's those I want to keep in touch with..online or off....these are the one I cherish the most as they have a direct connection to me and my life....

Chaingang -> RE: Favourite users and Admirers (4/15/2006 2:43:55 PM)

I just found out that you can hide the profile of an admirer and that it aditionally removes them from your admirer list. Sometimes, the many wankers here ARE actually annoying.

Sigh.
