How do you feel about people who have NEVER Served in the armed forces (regardless of which country) claiming that injuries sustained doing mundane things were acquired during Service?

Pity them.

How sad and pathetic a person must see their life if they have to make up things just to make it more interesting to themselves and others.

Sad.

Very sad.

Memories are flexible. It is not unknown for people to believe they had experiences that they never had. It's sad that they need to do this and shows that they are not in control of their own lives.

I feel sad for someone so needy and delusional...someone who needs the approval and admiration of others but has nothing in their own life to offer up that they think is good enough.
I'd also like to take the person to Walter Reed in DC or any other military hospital in the world and let them see what exactly they are pretending to. All of the beautiful, impossibly polite, and strangely optimistic young men and women there who are going about with parts of them missing. Reality has a way of being a bitch slap to the face at times.

I had to deal with my 2nd husband claiming to be a veteran from a Special Forces unit...until his DD214 came in from his mom and I took a look at it.  Bastard never made it through Basic Training...

If he ever comes around me again, my brothers and I will go ballistic on his ass.  We are all veterans and we have the DD 214s to show for the win.

One brother is a spook (that is what I am calling him since he named my daughter Lizard) working in Afghanistan and the other is working for the Postal Service when he had to get out of the Army due to medical problems,

I just go for the jugular. That is going to be one mussed up dude...Especially when I get the skunk out of the its cubby hole and  carefully take aim...

I served bravely and was shot too many of times to count.....Fuckers knocked seven inches off the Domidong.

I am not always impressed by those who have served.

God bless me and my lack of service.

It's sad but if it's the only way they can get healthcare where they live then I can understand why they would do it.

It's sad but understandable.

If they do it simply for attention then that's just pathetic.

I would think that getting medical care based on service related injuries would be based on showing proof of service..

Luckily I came out of 'nam unscathed, but it was a close run thing at times.

It might seem like a lovely Regency period town at the edge of the Gloucestershire Cotswolds, populated by the upper classes, but dont be fooled. Cheltenham isnt all horse racing and architecture.

I tend to think it does.  Of course, some paperwork is trumped up a bit to ensure some folks get vet services.

If someone is overseas and has to have an injury documented, go as high as it can go, I say.  Make sure they get the medical treatment they have earned.

I don't care. I believe in kharma and energy and all that rot. Other people's lies generally do not affect me.......so it's just "whatever..."

Here in the UK our injured service men and women are treated by the National Health Service free of charge. The military has special hospitals for veterans, although many are cared for in the public system.

It would be a LOT easier to lie about 'war wounds' in the UK and get away with it than it would be in the US, which makes it even more pathetic.

I would suggest that anyone doing this seriously needs medical help - clearly there are self-esteem issues that need to be urgently addressed.
