ORIGINAL: Fightdirecto As a Combat Veteran of Viet-Nam, it did not bother me that President Obama didn't fly to France to speak at the D-Day ceremonies this year. He has enough to do right here at home. After all why should I be offended at him, when I wasn't offended when his predecessor, George Bush II, didn't go to any U.S. Veteran's cemetery on any of the 8 Memorial Days during his years as President? However - I was offended that his draft-dodging, Chickenhawk Vice president, Dick Cheney, dishonored all our American veterans by showing his face at the Memorial Day ceremonies at Arlington during the last year of the Bush II administration. Cheney's mere presence among the graves of America's honored dead veterans shows his disrespect for them. Surely, Cheney "had better things to do" that day (his excuse of why he dodged the draft during Viet-Nam was "I had better things to do"). Sergeant First Class, U.S. Army retired 1969-1995 As a rule I don't agree with groundpounders but I'll make an exception in this case.
