"It’d be a disaster for the Republican Party,” California GOP operative James Lacy tells Politico. "Can you imagine if GOP gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman has to run with Taitz and her cockamamie issues about Obama’s birth certificate?" he asks. Taitz has been busy filing lawsuits alleging her rival, African-American former football player Damon Dunn, is ineligible to run against her.
GOP bad dream: Birther on ticket
California Republicans optimistic about their prospects in November could find themselves with a bit of a problem after the votes are counted in Tuesday’s primaries — a statewide ticket with the so-called “Birther Queen” as one of their candidates.
"Birther Queen" Orly Taitz has been tossed out of courts, press conferences, and even Tea Parties, but she's still on the California ballot, and Republicans fear she might actually win the GOP primary for secretary of state. Taitz—who has filed repeated court cases alleging President Obama was born in Kenya—would become California's top election official if she became secretary of state.
