Never heard of Ms Ali but I see no reason to believe most on the left wouldn't embrace her if not all of her positions. BTW Tavis Smiley is a terrible interviewer and how he got a TV and radio show is simply beyond me. His opinions are his and his alone and certainly do not reflect those of most liberals and progressives. But it is nice to see you quoting a column by such an unabashed bigot as Steyn. Your charade of "I'm a moderate who didn't leave the Democratic party, it left me" lie was boring in the extreme.

What about the fact that it`s the "liberal" media ,The Tavis Smilely Show,that did the interview? [;)] Three things rich and the cons like about her. 1.Claims to be a victim of the left,when in fact,that`s untrue(gotta have both aliments for full fun) 2.Spreads the vicious vile hate speech that rich and the cons eat for breakfast lunch and diner.Especially the tried and true"not all Muslims are terrorist but most/all terrorist are Muslims. Tell that to Mrs.Tiller. 3.Like the hateful nutter Ann Coulter,this atheist suggests we not try to create a dialog between the west and Islam,build bridges or understand each other.But instead wants to do the worst most insulting and most guaranteed to fail thing possible,try to convert as many Muslims as possible. No wonder rich is hawt for her. I find it fascinating that this atheist can make judgments on who`s religion is better.

O59 you do realize that good Muslims don't want dialogue or rhetorical bridges either. If you do not capitulate to their demands and ideas, you must die; that's their doctrine not mine.I suspect you think by appeasing them this won't happen to you personally. But you're wrong, just like the unseen elements that are infiltrating the American Left under false pretense and lies the Islamic faith has sefdom of all humanity as it's ultimate objective. Do you O59, denouce all religions, atheists ideas or any philosophical point of view (most particularly individual freedom) apart from the one true religion of Islam? Just say it and you're in. Here is the thing.... Change comes from within, and I support her in her efforts to reform, educate, and to change practices that she does not agree with. She wants to Westernize Islam, go her! BUT, I do not feel the White Woman's Burden to save the world, and I know successful change comes from within. There are enough problems for women in this country that need reforming... You know, in the last three places I have lived a woman was murdered by her significant other. In Clovis there was a murder suicide, in San Pedro a young woman was shot a block away from me in her car while she was attempting to go to work. In Long Beach a couple of weeks ago I could not leave my apartment because they had blocked off portions of Downtown because this douche shot his girl friend and killed her.... Violence against women is rampant in this country, as is the sexual exploitation of them.... Pull the splinter out of your own eye before attempting to pull it out of your sister/brother's.... This seems a goodly attempt by the author of this article to cast "feminism" and the "left" and "multiculturalism" in a negative light, and yet I see no quotes from these so called feminists and leftists to support his contention that we do not support feminism in that part of the world.... typical
