I needed this gigglesnort! Thanks, everyone!

And the OP's avatar is a real picture, just not of HIM.

Back to your regularly scheduled anime.

To make his horsey go faster? Because that is the only context in which I have used them, and I cannot imagine what else they would be used for.

Wait are you calling me a horsey? I'm losing the love here....

Someone who can spell "shtick" is a rare person, indeed. I mean that seriously.

*lol* Thank you. It is a tricky word. I keep wanting to add a 'c' somewhere.

quote:

Adding to what you said about mental strength, there is at least one form of mental strength that makes a person a good target for mind control rather than a tough nut. I hear it's rather hard to hypnotize somebody who lacks the ability to concentrate for decent periods of time. And people who have that ability to focus on something exclusively along with a good memory tend to be what the rest of us call... smart.

We had an interesting discussion at the other place about brainwashing earlier today. The ideas surrounding it are things we've either experienced in some form or are comfortable undergoing under the right circumstances. When I addressed the consensual forms one might encounter, noting those already in established relations or familiar with one another versus the relative stranger, I concluded the the latter would definitely be imparting a measure of influence on the victim without their conscious knowledge of its occurrence.

The indoctrination of cult victims is a wonder area to look to. Oftentimes people ask how did you get sucked in? And for the most part it began long before they actually recognized they were being manipulated. But I assign that to conscious acknowledgment. I believe there is some recognition subconsciously and for whatever reasons the individual chooses to ignore it. I find the subject and its surrounding kin of great interest, which is probably due to my earlier studies on mindfulness and mental conditioning. I don't allocate the same validity to charisma/manipulation and the areas mentioned. I think it's markedly different and the intentions are miles apart.

Unfortunately the OP hasn't gone into specific detail or referenced any earlier experiences pertaining to programming and other forms of psychological conditioning that could alter the scope of the discussion. But you've raised an interesting point in your final remarks about focus. I'm left to wonder if those with a heightened attention span actually make a better candidate for more extensive forms of control? It's definitely worth considering.

GUYS, guys. Nobody is a horsey, I was referring to a literal horse that Jefff is going to whack to make it go faster! BECAUSE EVERYONE LIKES FAST HORSES!

Laurell, don't discriminate against people who like pony play. That is not nice at all.

Also quirts are only nasty when they have not been washed. Otherwise they are perfectly fine. Because, let's be honest, nobody wants a crusty quirt.

Oxyclean!! Heavens no! If you've got yourself a fancy leather quirt, you must use good quality leather soaps and cleaners. Oxyclean might bleach it. Next you're going to suggest letting your slave lick off the blood!

And then ask for more... yes... and then you hit her again... mmmm... ahem, what was I saying?

Also, Zeph, POLAR BEARS IZ TEH NASTIEST OF ALL!! So don't even get started on quirts. Although quirt is a really silly word. Quirt quirt quirt quirt quirt.
