ORIGINAL: xxblushesxx The series is more...clever than the books. Charlaine has some well-drawn characters, but she (like Laurel Hamilton) kind of loses her way about half way through a series. It's possible they're being pressured for books that probably shouldn't have been written, which is why some of the later books read like bad charicatures of the earlier ones. I still read them though... I agree with Larurel K. Hamilton, I'm halfway through one right now and it's just drivel and meaningless detail that's not all that relevant to anything. It's disappointing as I really enjoyed the series, maybe it will get better. I don't really agree with Charlaine Harris though, other than one recent book in which I felt the complicated storyline didn't fit her writing style too well and she floundered, I think she's remained pretty true to the original content and substance. It's not horribly dramatic stuff, but it's more fun reading than other serial vamp writers.
