Since I've been without a playmate for a couple of years now (East Texas sux, by the way), I've been exploring self bondage. A couple of days ago I had a session and it was the first where I used pain as a motivator (I put clover clamps on my nipples).
WOW!
Pain is a great sexual stimulant. I liked (but hated) it so much that while I was bound I shook around to make the clamps hurt more. And the fact that I was experiencing that much stimulation without being able to ejaculate (I was bound spread eagle so I couldn't masturbate) nearly drove me crazy!
Until now, I haven't had a great desire to engage in bondage without a partner because it was too predictable. In fact, being bound without a motivator actually made me tired sometimes. But this really got prompted me to search for more ways to bind myself within the constructs of safety.
So far, I've been using ice to suspend a key on a string outside of my reach (when ice melts, key drops and I free myself -- very simple), but I'd like to seek out other methods so I can do what I did in fresh ways. I've been re-educating myself in the fields of electronics, electricity and magnetism so that I can start designing toys that can be controls via remote and/or computer (right now, I'm using a parallel port to control relays), but it's a long journey to create something safe and practical.
So, anyone else have good ideas?

All I know is I wouldn;t want to be you when the batteries die. Have a back-up plan for whatever you do.

Elementary my dear Watson. I have always had a backup plan, and never have I relied on batteries in any of my designs (none of which have come to fruition yet, btw), except in the case that loss of battery power results in release. I may seem a little reckless, but everything I do is very meticulously planned ;)

Do a search here in male submissives, there was (not sure if he still is or not) a sub named "SamEscapes"--his journal details his desire and frequent sessions with self bondage.

If you are interested, you are actually within a short drive of three cities with very active lifestyle groups. DFW is very close and quite a few people from the Metroplex post here. Austin has a large group and several fetish clubs (although I have never been in one). Houston is a bit further, but you can drive 95mph all the way here. The only thing Houston has more if than kinksters, is strip clubs.

Check out Bridgett Harrington's stuff, she's well known for her self-bondage.

Also, there's lots of groups and parties and munches in Texas, not to mention the Austin Rope Symposium in December.

I actually knew that, but it never really occured to me to reach out. East Texas has an uncanny way of giving you tunnel vision. I believe I'll try that, thanks.
Incidentally, Houston is actually the closest and Austin the farthest :)

One man I used to play with remotely many years ago had a thing for self bondage using chains. He also had a thing for safety and we found the following solution solution.

He would buy a padlock which could be snap-locked, not using the key. The day before his intended bondage session he would place the key in one of those trays you use to make ice lollies, fill the tray with water and make himself a large ice cube containing the key. Then he'd set everything up for the session, get the frosen key out of the freezer and place it so he could reach it. After this he chained himself, locked the padlock and was locked up till the ice had melted. Should something go wrong he could start sucking and chewing on the ice cube and get the key out in a manner of seconds.

Just don't end up having to explain to a locksmith. There's a cartoon I wanted to paste here but I don't know how since they got rid of the embed picture feature. It's a gal in self bondage hanging in suspension with a locksmith arriving at the door.

I'm a new member here, so I'm not too sure what's allowed. There are a few web sites (none of which I'm affiliated with) that deal with self bondage. While most of the stories are pure BS, most have ingenious escape methods. I'll post a link to the best site if it's allowed (feed back please...!!!)

I've been a fan of self bondage as well for a long time. I've usually played it safe and used the most simple methods of release. One method that's a bit more complicated comes to mind, however. It involves a form of self predicament bondage.

The idea was to have a hollow PVC pipe about 12 to 14 inces long fixed to a solid surface. The original idea comes from a man who described a pipe he placed in concrete in his basement while the house was being built, though I'm sure alternate methods could be made. The pipe was about two feet long, and he left about half of it sticking up out of the concrete. The pipe was far too narrow for a hand to fit inside.

He would place the escape key in a cork, and drop it into the pipe. Then he'd go upstairs and lock himself in chains, including a very short hobble chain. He'd also add locked on high heeled shoes to his feet. He would turn the water off in the home (not sure how he did this anymore) and fill a sink with water.

In order to get free, he'd have to get a mouthful of water from the sink get all the way to the basement, and spit the water into the pipe. He'd have to do this many, many times until the pipe filled up enough that the cork would rise to the top and he could reach it to unlock himself.

The addition of vibrators here and there made certain he'd cum long before he'd get out, which was the best part for him. We all know how much less fun something like this can be when we've already cum. The poor fellow still HAD to go through the process if he wished to get loose.

It was an elaborate, but very thrilling concept I have never forgotten.

Aubre, that is the site I was refering to. It is loaded with hundreds of stories dealing with self bondage, bondage, latex & numerous other subjects. Like I said, most are BS but one is hotter than the next. You can get a lot of ideas there as well as numerous links to like minded sites.

LOVED self-bondage before i had someone to play with (still do now and then).
