I am not sure about Tx, but in Pa the named beneficiary on an account or in a will is moot. The surviving spouse gets all funds that were in the name of the deceased.

That's only for spouses, though. Dower rights are just... odd!

Yanno, I hate law, legal work bores the living hooey out of me, but I wish I could just take the classes on WRITING trusts...

Well, they each got a third, pure.

Now... keeping my fingers crossed, maybe some good news. The mom had lunch with both kids today, and I THINK they may have gotten past the hard feelings. Son was quoted as saying, "I need my mom".
