how many cubits in 62 feet 4 inches? its bound to be down to some error like that - you know how it was when it came to that ark.

on the "football" angle, this is a sign from God to abandon your sinful deviance from righteousness and to return to the sacred covenant of the round ball which "ye shall not handle in play, saving ye be the keeper of the goal".

Do not let it dribble past your gloves and into the net lest you be left hanging from a top corner of the column upon which Lord Nelson stands.

Somehow, y'all changed games!

News flash:

Jesus destroyed by act of God......[8D]

thishereboi -> RE: Mother Nature Defeats Jesus and Football (6/15/2010 7:12:51 PM)

Talk about overkill. Most parents settle for grounding a kid[8|]

thornhappy -> RE: Mother Nature Defeats Jesus and Football (6/15/2010 7:47:53 PM)

It was THE news at work today.  Perhaps this is God saying "Next time, get a better designer!"  It was just way, way out of scale to the complex.

A believer this morning noted that "God took out Jesus, but left the big Hustler Store billboard up right next door!"

Brain -> RE: Mother Nature Defeats Jesus and Football (6/15/2010 8:15:51 PM)

"You shall not make for yourself an idol, whether in the form of anything that is in heaven above, or that is on the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth."

Not that I'm religious but this is apropos.

Just god's way of saying "Styrofoam?  Really?  You have how much money and you make this of fucking styrofoam?"  I'd be pissed too!

As far as the football angle, well... sorry, but Joe Pa could kick Mother Nature's ass.  They're about the same age too... [:D]

EDIT: To Add...  Actually, aren't they married?

AND

Really?  Styrofoam?  How did they get away with that even?  6 stories tall?  I would figure anything that large would have to be built to code.  Not to mention the environmental and possible implications of something that huge made of styrofoam burning up.  Do people not take 3 minutes to think ahead anymore?  Seriously?  Jesus christ...  Er... no pun intended.

vincentML -> RE: Mother Nature Defeats Jesus and Football (6/15/2010 9:02:06 PM)

If not an act of god then a random act of nature .... which supports the atheist argument [:D]

TheHeretic -> RE: Mother Nature Defeats Jesus and Football (6/15/2010 10:51:00 PM)

Styrofoam is for test models, anyway. I just have a feeling they are going to rebuild out of something much sturdier, and Touchdown Jesus will become a tourist attraction.

Or at least, some people are going fundraise among the fundies for that, whether it ever happens or not.

seekingOwnertoo -> RE: Mother Nature Defeats Jesus and Football (6/16/2010 12:37:12 AM)

Knew you all ... would jump on this ... LOL ...

It was NOT the REAL touchdown Jesus .....

That is on the campus of the University Of Notre Dame!

Home of the Fighting Irish!
Right at the end of the end zone ... very safe ... very secure ...

Just remember ... who has the MOST National Championships .. Heismans ... etc ..

Think Ya'll know ...

Them damned Irish!

ROFL

Had to add this ... from Wikipedia ...

Notre Dame Stadium is the home football stadium for the University of Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team.

The stadium is located on the campus of the University of Notre Dame at Notre Dame, Indiana, United States, just north of the city of South Bend

The stadium is known for its view of "Touchdown Jesus",

a nickname given to the large mural entitled The Word of Life by Millard Sheets of the resurrected Jesus.

Just saying ...

Silly! God sanctions the game, but gives the players free will, otherwise it would be a very boring 90 minutes, as it is of course for those heathens everywhere that have turned away from the path of truth.

Like my son and daughter for instance, whose departure into foster care is now imminent unless they get righteous, right quick.

thornhappy -> RE: Mother Nature Defeats Jesus and Football (6/16/2010 7:15:58 PM)

For the styrofoam folks....  It was a metal armature, plus styrofoam, plus a cladding of fiberglass (epoxy-resin plus fabric).  You'd have a hellaciously heavy structure if it was metal (plus wind loading issues).

No wonder it burned like gasoline!

Which atheist argument?
