This could just be my ignorance, but weren't people losing their homes before Obama was elected?

LadyEllen -> RE: Community Organizers Like Obama Caused Mortgage Collapse (6/18/2010 3:13:54 AM)

Silly MissA! Obama is responsible for everything - whatever might have happened before is now totally irrelevant.

On the plus side, Obama should thereby be credited with winning WWII, some decades before being born - thats just how great he is. And in the same way he can be blamed for everything from the biblical flood onwards, that went wrong. Do you see it now?

Any one with any common sense would realize that the mortgage collapse was caused by both parties forcing banks to loan money to low income people at the drop of a hat. John Stossel even interviewed a black politician who revealed that the mortgage collapse was actually caused by too much government intervention. Community organizers all over this nation like Obama demanded banks loan money for low income people who couldn't prove how much money they made, had no or minimal down payment, and didn't have good credit ratings.

Common sense would tell you that people who can't save up enough money for a down payment, will most likely default on their loan at the first unexpected financial crisis such as needing a new air conditioner, new heater, new plumbing or a car breakdown. But the government forced them to loan money to them any way so they could claim that more people own homes today than ever before. Both parties were responsible for this and Obama was one of the ring leaders.

Bumper sticker
"Honk, If I'm paying your mortgage"

Well it's clear you don't have any...Unmitigated bullshit.

By far...most and in the area of 80% of the bad mortgages were underwritten by Countryside mortgage. They were clearly writing loans ANY loans to sell to the big banks.

Likewise, most of the bad mortgages ONCE AND FOR ALL...WERE NOT...NOT under the CRA (Community Reinvestment Act) and blaming politicians for something that didn't happen is lying through your teeth for just more partisan tripe.

You'll be sure to honk if you are keeping me in my yacht...and you are.

Then explain to me what the fuck Obama had to do with the mortgage industry.

MM, what the fuck is wrong with you?

Didn't you read Cucky's post?

John Stossel even interviewed a black politician who revealed that the mortgage collapse was actually caused by too much government intervention.

Stossel even interviewed a black politician who agreed.

That pretty much settles it for me.  Case closed.

Thats almost as good as anything that Boehner analyzes or what Sara can see from her house, or Joe the Plumber weeps and gnashes his teeth at us about, so yeah.....it must be so.

What's old Hipshooter say about this?

Via the Community Reinvestment Act, pased under Carter, unenforced under Reagan and pere Bush, vigorously enforced by Clinton, the cause of many protests and much agitation by Acorn.

Still on the books, a guarantor of future economic chaos.

It could be that those derivatives had a little something to do with it.

Nahhhhhhhhhhh!   What was I thinking?

What do you know... in two clicks I found a blog that says Robert Gordons blog is full of shit:

quote:

The Real Culprit Behind the Fannie/Freddie Meltdown

From an editorial in Investors Business Daily:

Obama in a statement yesterday blamed the shocking new round of subprime-related bankruptcies on the free-market system, and specifically the "trickle-down" economics of the Bush administration, which he tried to gig opponent John McCain for wanting to extend.

But it was the Clinton administration, obsessed with multiculturalism, that dictated where mortgage lenders could lend, and originally helped create the market for the high-risk subprime loans now infecting like a retrovirus the balance sheets of many of Wall Street's most revered institutions.

Go read the rest.

Great.

Blog wars.

Because bloggers have become the prophets of our time.

Jesus christ.  Carter all the way thru Clinton?  Now the 'real' republicans are going to repeal healthcare, just let em in, like glass-stegall and banking and what not, what the fuck did they do when they were in power?  why didnt they repeal this community reinvestment act?  what the fuck did they do besides invade a country under false pretenses and shoot a lawyer in the face? they are repealing all the wrong shit and continue to want to do so.

I'm sorry but I have to shield my eyes from your post.

We are no longer allowed to talk about Bush or the Republican Congress that was in power.

That's ancient history.

Do feel free though to offer any criticisms you have of Clinton, Carter, and FDR.

mnottertail -> RE: Community Organizers Like Obama Caused Mortgage Collapse (6/18/2010 7:32:55 AM)

Well, I did not care for the way that both the Clinton and Carter adminstrations handled Hurricane Katrina.  Seems like they coulda already had those dykes built up to hold those marshlands outta harms way so Bobby Jindal didn't have to be outted as a borrow and spend big government rino.

Didn't think much of FDR after he shot the lawyer in the face.

I don't know that you would want dykes to build up.

They kind of scare me already.

A bizarre exaggeration. And aren't buyers still responsible for buying what they can afford? If you buy a truck you can't afford, and are underwater when you total it (as my neighbor did), is it the car dealer's/lenders fault for giving you the loan?

You're also ignoring the bundling of loans to hide weak assets and sell them. Without this, there would have been no meltdown.

Now....explain to me what the fuck a community organizer has to do with any of this.

Then explain to me what the fuck Obama had to do with the mortgage industry.

Researching the "Community Reinvestment Act" ("CRA") would prove that the mortgage collapse was caused primarly by the Democratic Party (under Carter then Clinton) enacting legislation which strongly encouraged (at risk of having their "FDIC" approval revoked) banks et al mortage loan institutions to make sub-prime mortage loans (often with no income verification and no down payment) to low income people (primarily African-Americans) virtually at the drop of a hat. Of course, researching means thinking outside the box and accepting unrefutted facts/truths. Buyers are indeed still responsible for what they can afford, but if the law requires the bank/lender/mortage insurance company to take over the mortage if the buyer defaults it is indeed the fault of whomever enacted the law.

The CRA also made Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac the primary providers of those loans, and Fannie & Freddie eventually bundled the good with the bad to hide the bad and sold them off which eventually resulted in the meltdown.

What the fuck does a community organizer have to do with any of this? ACORN was in forefront of securing said loans when Obama was working for ACORN as a community organizer.

What the fuck does Obama have to do with the mortage industry? His ties to former Fannie Mae CEOs Jim Johnson and Franklin Raines.

Now...explain how you can't connect the dots?

Musicmystery -> RE: Community Organizers Like Obama Caused Mortgage Collapse (6/18/2010 8:30:48 AM)

Sure---you haven't provided any.

What you HAVE done is repeat your assumptions without substantiation.

You also continue to ignore a much larger and more immediate cause, the derivatives.

So we're back to square one, same questions.

The problem here is the same problem on every political board. People do not come to learn, they come to create a subject or a specious issue upon which to blame the political side they don't like. The definitive fact that we had 8 yrs, of Bush and 1+ of Obama and there are any of these posts, is testimony on how difficult it is to try and create their opprobrium over Obama.

As I have written kinkroids and for the last time :

Most of the bad mortgages ONCE AND FOR ALL...WERE NOT...NOT under the CRA (Community Reinvestment Act)

So...SO community organizers, ACORN, Obama had nothing whatever to do with the do-called mortgage melt down.
