Do I need to tie the ribbon in a knot over the hair tie forst, or just tie it around the braid end itself or?

I'm not sure what you're asking, but I'll try. One way to do it is to incorporate it into the braid (treat it as a section of hair, or include it in one of the sections) then tie it at the bottom. I suggest using a band of some sort to fasten the braid, and use the ribbon over the band as decoration because the ribbons don't hold the hair well.

Careful with the bows...some of them only work for little girls or Dorothy from Oz. I would use a band to secure the braid, then tie the bow over it.

You ever seen movies where the little girls had braids, and at the end of the braid it was a decorative ribbon? That's what I am talking about:) Yes. When i have done it in the past, i band the braid as if i was not incorporating a ribbon, then i take the ribbon and slide it through the band and then wrap it around the braid over the band and then tie the bow. Putting it through the band will help it stay on the braid and wraping it around the braid over the band hides the band. If i am not mistaken they also have bands you can buy with ribbons already done and all you have to do is band your hair and straighten the bow. angel

At the worst you look silly for a moment, at the best, you got a cute new hair accessory for a moment:)[ Ribbons in the hair were popular amongst the cheerleaders when I was in highschool. what one girl feels silly in another might feel drop dead sexy . i for one wear ribbons at the end of my braids. i also wear headbands with bows on them. and for extra fun i have a kitty ears headband from halloween i wear around the house. i get rubberbands the same color as my hair or the ribbon. i use the band to hold the braid then put the ribbon above the rubberband . enjoy your bows.
