I tried to find some other advice threads first, but it seemed like every thread was more interested in specific situations or directly related to a D/s relationship dynamic. My wife and I are new to this scene and have only experienced any play with each other and one other. We're finally decided on bringing our Dominant desires to the forefront but are a little naive on where to start. Is there any advice you could give us, not on the specifics of our engagement with a potential sub, but on interacting with the community. More specifically, finding local members of the community and getting to know them without seeming too ignorant or rude.

www.drkdesyre.com go thru the enter, and slosh around until you get the meet people button to the left and look for groups and munches in your area of the bayou........you will find a wealth of info at them, usually, for damn near everything, even situations like this.

You are going to be moving overseas in a month or so. You will also be having a baby soon. They are both very stressful times of anyone's life. I would suggest that you give up trying to add a submissive to you family until AFTER you are settled in your new place and AFTER the baby is born and into a routine. You have NO idea how busy and exhausted you will be. Once your life is stable you will have plenty of time to seek that submissive.

I agree with peppermint u have two trying time ahead either has stress many people out beyond limits, and taking on a subbie is not like shoping at store for a dog or cat, u have to get to know a sub, understand the service between the three which is basicly poly, with two as tops, basicly u are looking for someone u both can just boss around, not comman for married couple to both wake up to wanting to be a Dom, but stranger things has happen.

Those are some of the reasons why I was asking for more general advice on getting to know the community as opposed to anything directly related to taking on a sub. We're more interested in getting to know people here online and where we are headed to since as of right now we know no one over there.

Its fun to interact with people who share the same general kink as you do. You may find someone who would be willing to be your volunteer victim , and let you practise some of your skills. Go for it. You don't have to make a major commitment to casually play with someone.
