Toppingfrmbottom -> I over think stuff to damned much sometimes. (6/18/2010 11:29:09 AM)

We have a couple very heavy duty winter blankets, Plus bed linens we need to store while not using them, and now it's summer we'll be putting them away. I had originally thought I wanted to build a blanket chest for the foot of the bed, and put the items in there. Then I thought, nah, I don't want something sitting in my room, taking up space* minimal space though it takes up* for   6 months of a year, and the stuff's not being used.

So then I thought I'd put them in the cabnits, my dad has cleared out for James and I to use as a closet, then I thought nah, closet space is so precious, us not having a closet, I don't want to take up space with blankets and shit that's not going to be used for most the year.

So now I don't know WHAT I want to do to store my blankets and things that are seasonal lol.

I do know we're going to vacum pack them into space saver bags so they're compressed and safe from dust and bugs, however, space saver bags in the past,  have proved useless since they never stay vacuum sealed, but maybe this time we'll get lucky. So at least I know how I want to store them, if not where [&:]

put them in the cartrunk, you dont never go in there do ya?

Toppingfrmbottom -> RE: I over think stuff to damned much sometimes. (6/18/2010 11:32:08 AM)

mm, I laughed in real life at that suggestion.

No. We don't use the trunk of our car very often, but then you have to haul them everywhere you go:P

On the bright side, if you were ever out and about and found yourself in need of a blanket, it'd be there.

well, its not like its gonna be an effort on your behalf to traipse around with them once they are installed there for fucks sake.

Storage bins for under the bed.

calamitysandra, normally yes, but our bed is flush with the floor. There is no space under it.

If there is space under the box spring inside the platform, just take the bed apart and store them there. That way, you will turn the mattress at least a couple of times a year, killing two birds with one stone.

Are there different brands and types or are you getting the generic.  Some of them i believe have guarantees.

storage always sucks, but you know a lot of places have storage stuff on sale right now because during the summer they try and sell all the college kids things to help with storage in their dorms.  Check out walmart and such to see what they have for the college kids.  Also, your bed is your friend -- if you don't have a lot of room, find some bed raisers and raise your bed and use underneath for storage as someone else suggeste.

Finally, when all else fails lol i make a call to mom.  She has a lot more room than i and she at times will take things to store.  She doesn't mind as long as its not a mess and boxed up nicely.    Also be sure you are using your utility room or such to its efficiency -- we put shelves high on the walls in my utility room and its a god send for storage and we also finally got one of those utility steel racks and put it in there.

Also, i KNOW there are ocders organizationers who have vast websites that can help with how to make the most out of very little space.

Maybe some of them will post websites etc for your use and looksee.

I got the name brand storage saver brand, that's the exact name on them I believe.

I admit we're not using our storage  space or utility room to it's full capacity, and potential. I have wanted to get in there and organize and clean and weed out, for a long time now, but I am just not up to the job alone ,, and Daddy works so much He's not free to help very often. and honestly willing to help to much sometimes lol.

I think I'll store them in a house closet somewhere. Or maybe in a packar on the floor of my make shift closet. Or there is a shelf running clear from end to end of the room in the laundry room I could shove t hose suckers up there.

It's unclear if you have just a mattress, or a mattress and a boxspring.  If you have both, store them in between the mattress and the box spring.

yeah...but not in the space-saver bags [:D]

Cali, when we bought the bed we didn't buy anything but the mattress, Didn't need box springs and stuff, we had  a special plan to make a Captains bed frame. However instead we just made a flat frame on feet, and the mattress is on the flat frame.

fold them up as flat and small as possible, then stuff them into pillow shams.

peppermint -> RE: I over think stuff to damned much sometimes. (6/19/2010 10:33:05 AM)

Have you thought of putting the blankets under the mattress?  We have tons of leather here that we used to keep hanging up.  However, eventually we ran out of space since we live in a motor home full time.  All our leather is carefully laid flat under the mattress.  It's out of the way and takes up no space.

Toppingfrmbottom -> RE: I over think stuff to damned much sometimes. (6/19/2010 10:37:46 AM)

Not untill people have mentioned it, I suppose we could lay them flat, put tissue paper or something on them and between them and the wood, and just leave them under the Mattress. We did that with my beach towels when I needed to absorb moister from the mattress when a mysterious water leak kind of soaked my mattress.
