Raven, with respect to the advice regarding a registry tool, if that's a registry cleaner, you might want to go to Spybot Search & Destroy's forum for malware removal, http://forums.spybot.info/forumdisplay.php?s=27df69c712210b020c1f6e480e3b60a8&f=22, and read the topic, "Registry Cleaners, not recommended." If you have a PC guru, can we assume they've made sure you have a firewall, latest version, an antivirus updated at least once a day, a frequently updated anti-malware program (you're getting Malwarebytes), and operating system updates (security patches)? You can't run more than one antivirus at the same time, but programs that are strictly anti-malware are usually compatible with each other, if you decide to run more than one. Be careful which programs you choose and from where you download them. Some programs and websites are purposely made to look like those from a trusted source, some "security" programs are spyware, themselves, and some downloads, even from recognized programs, are stuffed (bundled) with toolbars and search functions that amount to spyware, which you have to opt out of carefully - if you can at all. [Edit to add:] I should say more simply - make sure to get tech-recommended programs from a trusted site. And once you have an antivirus and anti-malware, you can scan each new download with those, before opening or running it. Good luck!
