pahunkboy -> My cat is mad at me~!!! (6/19/2010 10:23:48 AM)

She has hair balls.  So- yesterday I fed her some olive oil.  She of course would not consume it- so I forced her.

So she is hiding in the car port rafters all night and wont come down.

Yikes.

Okay, no matter what, DO NOT STAND UNDERNEATH HER!!!

And watch your footing. Nuff said?

I would move out if I would be your cat...[8|]

The petro-malt is easier (you smear it on her paws) or some canned sardines in olive oil without draining them (they will keep in your fridge for a few days once you open them.).
Add them to the high fiber cat treats and or grow some kitty grass in a pot for her to nibble.

I wouldn't force oil because if she aspirates it she could get pneumonia, hunky.

Why don't you just brush her instead? Much nicer way to rid pussy of errant fur. I would rather clean up hair ball vomit then sop up runny cat poop. yeech! Also, her  resistance meant that she knew this was not a good thing for her to ingest.

Brushing her would not matter. She is ALWAYS grooming herself.

And I am not so sure about that cats wont eat what is not good for them...

A friend of mine found out the hard way that feeding oil to a cat can worsen kitty's already compromised kidneys.  There are a few hairball remedies on the market that work really well.  If not sure what to get - haul kitty's ass to the vet and find out what she can safely take.

If you fed me olive oil I'd be pissed too PA. I use hairball treats and that seems to work out well. She has occasional bouts of ridding herself from hairballs, but it's not near as bad since the treats.

Brushing may make a difference. She may be always grooming because she has excess shedding. If you brush her then when she grooms herself, in theory, she will swallow less hair.

Exactly. She constantly grooms to rid herself of excess fur.

That is the thing.  She never has hair balls until now.

She is in good shape- and is for the most part, perfect.

Ok- I am sorry about the broken link.  I added her pic to my profile instead.  I had to climb up into the rafters to get her.  She is inside eating now.  :-)

I like the sardine idea.  Even tuna in oil.

She is warming up to me.

I do not plan on forcing any more oil.

A tasty snack- of tuna/sardines is what I will do next time.

tropicalhoney -> RE: My cat is mad at me~!!! (6/21/2010 9:40:22 AM)

She's a beauty for sure so be sure to spoil her in every way.

xXsoumisXx -> RE: My cat is mad at me~!!! (6/21/2010 10:14:42 AM)

I put a little butter on the paws, and yes sardines, or tuna in oil..;)
