Canadian conservatives are just as conservative as American conservatives except for guns, although there are many who hold the same views as Americans on guns as well. The problem for conservatives in Canada is the rest of the country is not as much conservative – especially the French in Québec. And this means if they want to have any chance to get elected, never mind to get a majority government, they cannot go too far to the right. Another important reason I’m not involved is embarrassment. I don’t want my friends in the party to know how far I have veered to the left. So I avoid getting involved because it would lead to talking about something controversial that would reveal my leanings. There are some people I haven’t seen in a long time that I miss, now you guys have got me thinking about going to a convention. quote:

ORIGINAL: Brain No, I used to be heavily involved in the conservative party but these days I find Canadian politics boring. It's the same old, same old, stuff going on and I think it's very predictable. If I became involved in politics today I would be with the NDP or New Democratic Party. I like to think I'm objective notwithstanding some conservatives here finding my saying I'm objective amusing. quote:
ORIGINAL: flcouple2009 Just curious brain, Do you put as much thought and work into your own elections and government? Ahhhh....now it becomes clear. You were involved in CANADIAN conservative politics, where the only distinction between conservatives and liberals is what shade of red they come in. No wonder you think youre objective, your frame of reference has no inkling of what conservatism is all about.
