You cant make a contract with the sovereign; how will you compel the sovereign to performance? If you could then he should not be the sovereign......... or you should also be a sovereign and therefore not subject to him, which I seem to recall is about where the whole debate finished last time.

Mexico is NOT a party to the contract.  Thus they suffer no loss.  None.

They have no recourse.  No say so in a court.  They are not harmed by this change in the contract that they are not a party to. And even if they are harmed - this lawsuit would not typically involve/include another country.

They could file a human rights complaint with the UN.

(But have no standing in a US court. )

I wonder if Arizona could file legal briefs or sue Mexico for it's poor job of border management.

SL4V3M4YB3 -> RE: Mexico Joining Lawsuit Against Arizona (6/24/2010 12:47:38 PM)

I'm going to sue on behalf of The Mexican's too and that way I'll get some money when we win.

It'll be like an investment.

Archer -> RE: Mexico Joining Lawsuit Against Arizona (6/24/2010 1:30:22 PM)

I find it funny that they are suing Arizona for putting into effect a law that mirrors almost exactly the federal law that has been on the books but unenforced for over a decade.

And that of course is the key to this debate

The federal law advising all federal law enforcement that they are to check immigration status on people they have official contact with and reason to suspect may be illegally in the US, has been on the books but not enforced.

The Arizona Law telling their law enforcement folks the exact same thing will be enforced.

That is what they fear that they will actually have some follow through.

This country has been deliberately changing its ethnic makeup since it was founded.

Okay I am sure that I will be found as a Racist for this comment but I feel it needs to be said.

If all the Illegal Immigrants go back to mexico... What do you think that will do to our Unemployment situation?

SL4V3M4YB3 -> RE: Mexico Joining Lawsuit Against Arizona (6/24/2010 3:05:12 PM)

Not much AQuiteSimpleMan because not many US citizens want to do those low paid jobs.

tazzygirl -> RE: Mexico Joining Lawsuit Against Arizona (6/24/2010 6:01:45 PM)

Have you checked up on where these illegal immigrants are working?

Almost everyone I know has those low paying jobs, and very few have good ones.  I'm caucasian and have had to do live in domestic work just like hispanics do...I think a statement like that is incorrect.

Because of a flood of immigrants in California, rents went up over 800% in a very short time while minimum wage rose very little.  I couldn't afford to live there anymore...and of all the unskilled labor jobs available, I had way too much competition.  I'm not against immigration, but...it does alter the economy of certain states.

AQuietSimpleMan -> RE: Mexico Joining Lawsuit Against Arizona (6/24/2010 6:40:14 PM)

I would like to state that I am not againt Immigration. I am againt Illegal Immigration. Some say there is no difference, I say there is a BIG Difference. Once you are a Legal Citizen you start to care about the wage and labor rights and so paying 20 illegal men to work at wages that are not fair for the work being done happens less.

However I also know that Illegal citizens are usually grateful for the wages they receive and tend not to complain about the work they are doing, I have experienced this first hand, they work hard and they get the job done and at the end of the week they aren't threatening to go to your competition if you don't give them a raise.

I do believe that if illegal citizens were not being imployed in the sectors that they are highly populated then you would see a large change to the Unemployment status.

Right now I am unemployed and I would kill for just about any of the jobs that my illegal counterpart has, I would however know my rights and not allow my employer to infringe on them and thus I may not stay imployed for long.

Anyone who has gotten sick drinking water in Mexico should sue that country.

Perhaps you should take your straw out of the gutter

Mexico is not relevant to this contract.  None.  Nada.  They should not meddle in the affairs of a sovereign country.  It is RUDE.

You mean like we did when we took half of their country at the point of a gun?
You mean like we are in iraq and afghanistan?
You mean like we do in cuba?
I had no idea you were such a "lefty"

Why does the state of arizona not enforce the federal law against employing illegal aliens which is a felony?
Why would they rather spend their limited law enforcement capacity chasing down illegal aliens which is a misdomeanor?

Why does the state not enfore a federal law? Because it is a federal law.

They are not chasing anyone down thopmpson.
The new arizona law says if the police already have you at hand for official purposes and they have reasonable suspicion they can check your status.
Got any ID? a drivers license? No. State ID? No. Resident alien papers? No. sorry but we're gonna have to check  about your immigration status.

And like the old seat belt ticket they can't use an immigration check as their reason to stop you, that is prohibited in the law.

Slavehandsome -> RE: Mexico Joining Lawsuit Against Arizona (6/25/2010 1:03:45 PM)

The reason Mexico feels they have a right to sue, is because Bush made a formal deal with Canada and Mexico in 2005, to begin implementing the North American Union. Its going to take a number of years to put into place, but one of the steps is to implement integration of lots of Mexicans here into the U.S.. Its not a decision that taxpayers voted on, nor will its repeal be something taxpayers vote on. The North American Union will get on one currency that will eventually compete with the Euro. It will also allow regional governance which will present the opportunity to phase out the U.S. Constitution for an updated weaker one that includes taxpayers from all 3 countries. Think about your every-small-town USA; miraculously there are a fairly proportionate number of Mexicans in Scranton, Pennsylvania and Dothan, Alabama like there are anywhere in Arizona. If this were not part of a federal plan, it would not have happened this way. Bush Sr., Clinton, Bush and Obama are all subscribers to the philosophy of the Council On Foreign Relations, which looks to the future to reduce the sovereignty of all nations in favor of regional governance, and are taking steps to force this issue. Don't expect "Change" or "A New Generation Of Republicans" to deviate from this course, they're lying to you, again.
