"Students in Provincetown – from elementary to high school – will be able to get free condoms at school, under a policy passed earlier this month, even though their parents might object"

We would have better educated kids in this country if the school committees and politicians put as much energy into teaching our kids, as they do pushing their own political/social agenda.

As a nurse and a mandated reporter of abuse, I would have lots of questions and issues if a 1st grader came into my office asking for condoms. Let's be honest here, a condom isn't going to fit a child of that age so what would the purpose in obtaining them be ? To make water balloons ? I can seriously see a child predator telling a kid to go get condoms from the nurse, after all she has to keep mum to the parents, advancing the predators agenda. Doesn't it make the nurse and school co conspirators for statuatory rape ? From my own moral standpoint, if I was giving little suzy Q condoms and later it was found out that Uncle Henry was abusing little suzy Q, I would feel I played a part in that crime.

In my other thread we have the nanny nazi's trying to dictate what we can feed our kids and now the condom nazi's handing out condoms to any child that asks. I have an idea: why don't we get the schools to make up some " Safety Meals ". You  know: a nice free range chicken salad sandwich, with organic lettuce and tomatoes, a piece of locally grown fruit and a Barney condon in each box.

I really have no problem with this program for high school aged kids, but applying it to 6 year olds is absurd.

[:D] a barney condom!! lol too funny. And yeh, I agree. I am sick to death about some watch dog piss ant busybody telling me I cannot do this because it might be dangerous. Or I must do this because it is for my own good.
How the hell did we all get to be adults when we had to make choices for ourselves? And these days, if a parent is not discussing "relationships" and yes I mean that instead of sex, then sex becomes the meaningless whack off it is for too many.

There is nothing wrong with meaningless sex, I would go further and suggest that the best sex has no meaning to it whatsoever.

It's when you start scheduling babies to menstrual cycles it gets a bit regimented and stodgy.

~FR~

Here's the problem for me. First and foremost I think that school counselors are butting into kids lives needlessly. Case in point, when my kids where in Middle school there was a body found about 5 blocks from the school, no one connected with the school, just a body. The counselors called me out of a hearing in court (I'm a paralegal) and asked if I wanted them to counsel my kids. My response was to ask: "Did they see the body?" "No", "Then why they hell would they need counseling?".

I worry that there are those who are pushing our kids into the things that they don't need. I mean really, condoms for elementary school kids? I wonder too if this doesn't just contribute to teen pregnancies, etc. We're educating them about this stuff pracitally before they're out of diapers. And to what point?

ETA: And what's this don't tell the parents stuff? Heck I would have known, as I paid attention to what my kids were doing. And if they were given something that I felt was inappropriate, I'd take to task whoever was behind it. Parents need to start parenting, or stop having kids. Either way we're better off.

I was listening to a radio talk show this afternoon and a caller said P-Town has a new  " 3 Rs ": reading, rithmatic, and rubbers. Cracked me up, but it home as to how sad it really is.
