So did anyone else catch word of this one? 11 hours 5 minutes long. Final score in the 5th set 70-68 Isner winning. Now, I'm not a huge tennis fan in general. I like it, sure, don't get me wrong, I even played in Jr. High and High School. But this was insane. The 5th set alone was over 8 hours long. They had to stop the match and continue the next day due to darkness... twice.

To put it into perspective, you could have flown from New York to London and still caught 3+ hours of the match. The Isner v. Mahut match alone would be a 3 dvd set. The previous record for longest match in history was around 6.5 hours, about 2 hours shorter than the 5th set alone in this match.

I can't even imagine how much their legs, arms and backs are killing them right now.

Isner may not go on to win at Wimbledon but to both he and Mahut, kudos! They both showed true championship stuff there and should be proud.

Well done to both of them.

And those of us who actually sat and watched the whole 11 hours

LOL, I think I could have been okay with missing the first 3 sets myself, but after that, a battle for the ages... or a battle that took ages... either way works I suppose.

I am kind of jealous though, that you got to see it. Even if I had cable or satellite anymore, they probably weren't showing that match here in the states. It's amazing really, two essentially unknown players (let's be honest, had you even heard of Isner or Mahut until 2 or 3 days ago? I sure as hell hadn't) doing something so absolutely wonderful and impressive. Both men at the true top of their game at the same exact time. Not often that ever happens.

It was amazing.  I think we got more coverage around here because Isner was a Bulldawg and a damn awesome one.  No one that knew of him was surprised that he made it to Wimbledon, but man, the length of that match is mind blowing.

The local news said while ago that he was scheduled to begin a doubles match 30 minutes after this match ended.  Hopefully, they can bend a rule and let him rest a bit!

I do too. Would be nice to put it off until tomorrow for him. I mean, yeah, the Williams sisters and others go from their singles to their doubles in the same day, but they didn't just come off of a match like that.

They did decide to reschedule, his doubles partner also had a singles match to play.

I gotta hand it to them. The boys were awesome and they deserve their props.  Men's tennis has needed a boost for quite sometime and these guys definitely gave it a dynamic boost.  Well done!
