Thanks, MissBeautiful! BTW, I think it's great that you're still interested in understanding that particular class, even though it isn't required now. Transcribing lecture notes from audio tape, making a power-point presentation or Word summary with the major theorems, one step-by-step example, and some specific things for visual learners (such as different colors for each power in an algebra problem, diagrams, stuff like that) could be very helpful and time-saving, while the student still does all of the necessary homework. Like I mentioned before, I enjoy doing that kind of thing and explaining it to someone else, since it helps me understand it more thoroughly, but it's time-consuming, especially if you have multiple classes.

And it could end up being dangerous if they are studying in the medical field or in electronics.  They could get a job and not know what they are doing.

Good point, Slavekal.  I hadn't thought of that.  But yeah, who wants a nurse or doctor working on them who really didn't learn their lessons in school?  That could be bad, bad, bad!

While I totally agree with both of you, I read her profile and I don't think that is going to be a problem

Well I don't want her making my french fries either.  She'll probably do it wrong.

If I read the right profile, she probably thinks she is hot enough she can get someone else to make them for her.

I don't know about having to do 100% of someone's homework, but the idea of being made to do algebra or work for someone else regardless of their ethics, even if it's just a few homework assignments, I kind of like that...especially if you have a dom who's going to have consequences if you don't get 100%...I thought this was more about like being made to do homework assignments.

I am so glad that there were NO group efforts for either master's degree!! I would have totally gone postal.

I have had so many group projects through my masters I want to pull the hair out of my head!!! But the professors all say, teaching is a group effort so we have to learn to work with each other now!

I just hate when I feel like I have to pull the entire group through because no one is doing their share of the work and my grade hinges on theirs. Surely real teachers arent like that? Right?

sorry :D

My first master's was in education (curriculum design). Yes, they are all like that. It's not too late to change careers!!!

From one teacher to another - welcome to the joys of education!!

Just remember - the first year is tough, but massively rewarding. The learning curve is steep, but exhilerating.

You'll be just fine

hehehe - all the best things in life take a little bit of work.

when you get to the end of your first year and look back at what you've achieved, I promise you'll think 'wow, that was amazing!'

This is my third year of teaching and I found my second year loads easier, and this year a positive walk in the park. But every day is a challenge, in a good way. The rewards are immense, and it's worth every second of effort

When I was in college I used to help my friends with computer assignments. I'd often end up doing the same assignment in 3 or 4 different ways, so that professor would not be able to detect that the same person did all of them. It was kind of fun for me and took me minutes compared to days that it would take my friends. ... Plus, I figured, less education for them and less competition in the work place for me. Can't really call it help in the end. Evil, I know.

I know :) and I can't wait, but I'm still scared... Little people can be so intimidating!

I've done "homework slavery" before and I've found it to be quite disappointing.  Why?  If you assign homework, be prepared to devote the appropriate amount of time to thinking about what you have assigned and what you expect to receive.  Otherwise, it is no different from doing "lines."
