Arpig -> RE: Hellopppp (6/29/2010 12:24:12 PM)

I am not a vet, but have had cats all my life and my guess would be ear mites as well....a trip to the vet is in order.

BentUnit -> RE: Hellopppp (7/5/2010 8:39:45 AM)

Good news!

I've taken Fuzz to the vet and YES he had ear mites.

He got a bucket collar and ear drops and sedatives.
He hates me now and refuses to snuggle and share my bed or use his litter tray.
At least the reference books are safe and swims in the bath tub are out of bounds.
I still have to clean the dried black crusties with a cotton tip when they appear but he is looking much, much better.

I want to thank everyone who replied and sent me PM's during this difficult time.
My boy means the world to me and if truth be told I have more contact with him than I have with any singular human.

Hugs,
~Bent.

Yay Bent :) I have 3 fuzz butts and I know how you feel, I am wrapped around their furry paws.[:)]. Glad it was nothing serious and he's ok.

BentUnit -> RE: Hellopppp (7/5/2010 9:35:33 AM)

Thank you Darling.

He is so precious to me.
Anything that hurts him, hurts me.

I might be very (VERY) difficult but I am very loyal and a bitter ender so long as I perceive that you have my back.

Hugs,
~Bent.

Watch that litter box thing. He may have a urinary tract infection.
Cats WANT to use their litter box. If they're not, there's usually a physical problem.
Male cats are prone to uti's more than female, and if they primarily eat dry food, that also puts them more at risk for a uti.
I know you're not made of money; maybe you could ask the vet just to write a prescription for an antibiotic for him?
You want to nip the not using the litter box in the bud; it can become a very BAD and icky habit.

I'm glad he's ok!

BentUnit -> RE: Hellopppp (7/5/2010 10:43:03 AM)

So do I Blushes.

Oh Christ, Darling I've been so worried!

He refuses to use the litter box when he is stressed.
I've gotten sedatives for him and it's stopped him from chewing up my reference books and my leather shoes and shredding my curtains and paintwork.
He'd be a lot calmer if he could swim in the bath tub but he's not allowed to...vets orders.
<sigh>
I have to lock him in the kitchen ( with the litter box) which has cleanable flooring until his ear mites are cured and his course of drops are done.

My Fuzzy hates me.

Bent have you thought about getting a kitten for him? I know it's more money in the beginning especially but my cats love each other's company, and you could probably get a deal from the ocal shelter where some of the older cats have already been spayed and/or neutered and it's less expensive.

My cat Miss Pickles was a wreck when her sister died from getting hit by a car (she got out by accident) and when I got her a new kitten she was like a whole new cat again. Of course, then I had to get one more...3 seemed like a better number.[;)].

Also, I buy my cats the food that is specially formulated for indoor cats too, I don't know if it makes a difference or not but they like it, and they have never had any uti issues. You could try that.
