Ok, I'll accept that, but as a sometimes very shy person, I don't like being called a lurker, it does not generate amicable connotations.

Same here, although it depends on the situation. Some situations I'll become very chatty in very quickly (it's a cover for nervousness, basically), others I'll tend to hang back and not say much for fear of judgement, making a fool of myself, upsetting people, sticking my foot in my mouth, and so on. I have an anxiety disorder, so that doesn't help either. I don't mind being called a lurker though, that is what I've been doing, for several months as a guest now actually. I don't know if I would have delurked if I hadn't been given a safe space in which to do so.

Good for you! I'm very glad you delurked!!

I wouldn't worry about sticking your foot in your mouth, if you do, there's many here that are doing it on a much larger scale that will shine in that spotlight.
