FullCircle -> Ever do lines (not coke)? (4/14/2006 12:01:33 PM)

I was reading about that very naughty Gauge and his detention and it got me wondering did anyone ever have to do lines like that Bart Simpson and if so what were they.

I had to once write down the times table up to twelve twice but that is it.

1x1 = 1
1x2 = 2
……
skip to the end.
12x12 (quick get calculator) = 144

I never did on the chalk board but I had to write lines at least once a year in school on notebook paper.  usually got caught reading when I shouldn't have been or not doing my homework.  I did have one teacher who had me do the prime #'s table on the chalkboard though.  Strange sort of punishment there.

Wow. I had an eighth grade teacher who made the entire class write lines if one person misbehaved. I can still remember the exact wording of that line to this day. (It was incredibly long)

I once was handed a text book and told to copy the first chapter...I wrote the first word, decided it was rediculous and then sat back and daydreamed, the teacher kept threatening me that I was going to stay until I had written out the entire chapter. After about 1/2-hour, I got bored so got up and left. When the teacher told me I had to stay and write I just smiled, agreed and left.
That is pretty much how most of my detentions went...they would assign them, and I would ignore them.

I never had to do lines as punishment in school, but I had a dom (who happens to be a teacher) maybe nine years ago who would have me do them in a notebook when my mouth got me into trouble.  I have the attention span of a gnat, so the tedium of writing lines was a pretty effective punishment.

Oh wait. The OP did ask for the lines that were written, right?

The lines I had to write back in eight grade (which I will never forget) went like this:

"I will not infract upon the rules and regulations established by Mr. -blank out name- in order to maintain and conduct an orderly classroom situation."

Written 100 times by everyone if one person misbehaved in his classroom.

The one and only time I ever did was in the 8th grade: "I will not laugh in class."

You got off lucky. I had to write that damned long sentence that I posted ealier 100 times over and over because someone always pissed that guy off.

Back when I was a kid, it was also accepted that teachers could paddle kids without their parents suing them.

LOL!  That's pretty much how it was at my house.  Dad would ground me for a week or two, I'd come straight home from school for one day, and be off with my friends after that.

I recall writing words spelled incorrectly during the weekly spelling test.

One of my mothers favorites punishments for us kids was to make us copy words and definitions out of the dictionary. Usually from 500 to 1000. Once we were done, she would take the papers and tear them in half in front of us. I got to the M's before I left home, but one of my brothers made it all the way to S.

heh I've done this and met with really good results because he had a short attention span. I still have his notebook too *weg*

akisha -> RE: Ever do lines (not coke)? (5/17/2006 10:15:53 AM)

LOL i got told to do lines once in school. My mother wrote a note to the teacher saying it was a stupid punishment and a waste of time, and to think of a more creative way to punish me.

Reflectivesoul -> RE: Ever do lines (not coke)? (5/17/2006 10:16:35 AM)

My mamma called it writing sentences though. I hated that shit when I had to do it, but it was effective untill I learned to write one word the whole 50 - 100 times then the next, that pissed her off, thus ending that punishment for me [:D]

mistoferin -> RE: Ever do lines (not coke)? (5/17/2006 10:25:10 AM)

Oh yeah....I went to Catholic school. I had to do lines AFTER I'd get my knuckles cracked with a ruler. Second grade, "I will not read my teacher's personal correspondence" 1,000 times!!! If she really didn't want me to read it she probably shouldn't have left it right out in the open like that, right? Anyway, that was just the beginning.....lines were a favorite of the nuns.

Rumtiger -> RE: Ever do lines (not coke)? (5/17/2006 11:50:24 AM)

I better put this as a hard limit just to make sure no dommes try to do this to me lol.

Punishment is one thing, pissing me off is another.

Reflectivesoul -> RE: Ever do lines (not coke)? (5/17/2006 3:27:10 PM)

LOL Tiger, you big chicken ( writing lines is sure as hell better than some things!, although I think you might like the "other" catagory for punishments lol )
