What type of apps are you after?

BentUnit -> RE: iphone apps? (6/30/2010 12:56:32 AM)

The best App. is placing the iPhone behind one of the rear tyres of your car, get into the car, slap it into reverse and run the iPhone over and go and buy a Droid.

Problem solved.

Lol BentUnit. I don't own a car. I'll have to ask my friend to run it over. Yeah, I hear droid is the iphone's rival. I suppose I'll give this one a shot for now though since it was a gift.

I am looking for all kinds of apps, naughty and nice

childoftheshadow -> RE: iphone apps? (6/30/2010 11:49:25 AM)

Have a look through the top tens in the app store, there are loads of decent (and not so decent) free ones. That's about the best I can say without something more specific as to what you want/like/dislike.

VirginPotty -> RE: iphone apps? (6/30/2010 12:30:31 PM)

I like the "Paper Toss" & "Bowling".
I also used the "RunKeeper"  to keep track of my roadwork but I don't use it now because using that in combination w/the iPod eats the battery very quickly.

BloodRayvyn -> RE: iphone apps? (6/30/2010 3:45:36 PM)

I like games, trivia, facts, music, movies, and anything that is out of the ordinary.

Valyraen -> RE: iphone apps? (6/30/2010 6:22:54 PM)

Rayvyn, I'll get Kitten on this thread... she's an app-aholic and, I'm sure, would love to suggest entries from the bonanza of icons she's got on her iPhone.

amaidiamond -> RE: iphone apps? (7/1/2010 8:59:21 AM)

Bedbugs lite (lots of fun flicking and squishing things) Angry Birds  lite (good problem solving) Penguin (much addictive fun)
GlassTower (great for those that like logic puzzles and physics) and wakethebox if your a physics geek like me. Tapfish if you like aquariums, cookiedozer if you like those addictive little games at the arcade where you try and push coins over the edge...

Erm.. I guess.

I've fooled around with a friend's Driod. I don't see the appeal and I certainly don't see how it's a rival. It's a decent subsititute but that's it. I'm just not impressed with it in any way.

As for free apps, my suggestion would be to every now and then pop into the app store and check the top 25 free apps. Tiki Totem is a fun one and I think they still have a free version. I'm trying to remember, off the top of my head, which apps were free and which I paid for! [:D]

My best suggestion is to just search for words related to what you are interested in. When Val and I were going to Disney, I searched for that and found several awesome free apps with things like menus for all the resturants and an app that users update so that it gives you accurate wait times for the rides in the parks.

Sometimes I just put in random things to see what comes up.

Here are a couple of great apps:
Go for a bike ride
Play horsehoes
Plant some flowers
Play a real board game with your neighbor
Paint a picture
Build a birdhouse
Learn an instrument

You get the point.....use the fucking phone for phone calls......

Shore you're my hero

I don't even know what an app is. How lame is that? I have an older flip phone. I can make phone calls, and text with it. Most of the time, I don't even know where it is, that's how much I use it.

Response to another poster here:

the term App stands for Application
As the devices become smaller I guess the terminology becomes shorter (geees)

Take me back to the early days of Macintosh - everything easy easier!

Huh. I can't do any of those things while waiting at the doctor's office and picking flowers doesn't help me track my Weight Watcher's points, while I can be on my apps waiting in line at the post office and the phone does let me track my points.

Mmmm... crazy, is it possible that both outdoor activities and technology are both valuable and useful? *le gasp* Say it ain't so!
