Level -> Another music thread (4/14/2006 1:53:00 PM)

We have several threads on favorite music... what's your favorite album cover of all time? Multiple answers are encouraged.

One to start the ball rolling:

Led Zeppeling III

"Led Zeppelin III's original vinyl edition was packaged in a gatefold sleeve with a novelty cover. The cover and interior gatefold art consisted of a surreal collection of seemingly random images on a white background, many of them connected with flight or aviation (as in "Zeppelin"). Behind the front cover was a rotatable paper disc covered with more images, including photos of the band members, which showed through holes in the cover. Moving an image into place behind one hole would usually bring one or two others into place behind other holes. This could not be replicated on a conventional cassette or CD cover, but there have been Japanese and British pressings packaged in miniature versions of the original sleeve." -- from Wikipedia

I still have my original edition of this one.

Anything ska thats dirrived from  boogie-woogie blues, rhythm and blues, jazz, mento, calypso, and African rhythms. Anything bluegrass or folk. And various other things I like to listen to from classical to rat pack music of the 50s an 60s to ballards and marching band music .

Chaingang -> RE: Another music thread (4/15/2006 2:35:07 PM)

The original Sticky Fingers cover has an additional interior cover of a man in his underwear matching the position of the outer jeans cover - in effect, you can open up the embossed cardstock belt area, unzip the fully functioning zipper, and peak at the man's underwear.

MistressDREAD: Many of those are not album covers...

Every single Pink Floyd album cover from the beginning until the Pulse CD

Long Live Syd and Pink Floyd

MsPoetress -> RE: Another music thread (4/15/2006 7:15:38 PM)

I would have to say "Darkside of the Moon" by Pink Floyd as of right now.

By the way how did you post those pics? I tried and it would not show it.

except where {=[ and }=]

You must use the squared brackets and the image must be located where it can be deep-linked to.

MasterG2kTR -> RE: Another music thread (4/15/2006 7:52:14 PM)

The Rolling Stones  - Some Girls

Has to be the vinyl album cover though (the most prized one I still own) with ALL the faces on the inner sleeve. After it was first released it had to be recalled because the record producers did not have the necessary rights to print all the faces shown on the original release. After the recall they simply printed blobs of ink over the inner sleeves to cover up the faces without sufficient rights. As you can see the front cover here is the second issue with the faces on the inner sleeve masked with ink. The rear cover was did not have the cutouts on the outer sleeve.
