It's a very indepth subject, and it's much easier to come up with information about the health risks than the health benefits of corset-training. Most things I've read will mention that corsetting alone will not provide the desired results. One must watch one's diet and get excercise. So, if you are following that rule then I would say that's a health benefit.

For myself, I enjoy the bondage of a corset, and the idea that I look pleasing to others when I wear them. I'm not looking to change my shape permanently. I'd venture to guess that not many people have the will and discipline to do so.

Good luck in your search for understanding on this topic.

Cin

i also wear cosets for the bondage [theres just something great about no being able to take a complete breath to me]

i feel that i have potential for corsetting as i am of the slendor [but not skinny] size and naturally curvey.

dont need to be health benefits [i assumed there were few to none] i was thinking more along the lines maybe of actual image and results

self manipulation just intrigues me in general [like, if i didnt love food so much i would deff have an ED - sick but, hey its true. .. . My D is thankful i love food LOL]

A couple of trans friends of mine have sworn by their corsets for bringing their figure more into an hourglass shape.  According to the most wasp-waisted of them, it took over a year of ever tighter wrapping to get her 24 inch waist above 34 inch hips, and she can't leave it off for more than a week at a time.

Of course, diet, exercise, natural body shape and your level of committment all play a part.  It helps to enjoy the feel, I'm told.

As a male Dom the "health benefits" to me are mainly the increase and focus of my circulation which occur while cinching you up tight!

bignipples2share -> RE: Corsetting (4/21/2006 8:29:49 PM)

I just love the feel of a corset, the breathlessness of it, the way my partner sees me while I'm being sexy in it. I don't go 24/7 and the only body modifications are pretty much immediate, not long term and tiny wasp waist, however, if some exciting male were into that and wanted me to, I would not be opposed <evil grin>

amaidiamond -> RE: Corsetting (4/22/2006 4:51:08 PM)

I like corsetting to a point and am addicted to them for the look and feel, I have often thought about *properly* corset training my waist, at the moment 24/26" is the lowest i can go however i think sometimes it can reach a point where it ceases to be sexy and looks rather odd, for instance the tiny 17/18" waist on naturally larger built women, then they look like they are gonig to snap in two.
Anyone else believe it can go too far?

mixielicous -> RE: Corsetting (4/22/2006 6:47:55 PM)

whiile i was doing research on it, i saw some tiny waists, no more than 10" i would say.

at that point i believe it defeats the purpose [to visually enhance someone]

amaidiamond -> RE: Corsetting (4/23/2006 8:55:17 AM)

I don't think I want to imagin a 10" waist, that would just look, imho *wrong* like an insect and all spindly, still beauty is in the eye of the beholder I guess

kajira4aMaster -> RE: Corsetting (4/23/2006 9:14:18 AM)

for me, and i haven't met anyone the same... i use my corset to breathe better... my ribs rub against my hip bones so when i am corseted it pops my ribs in so they don't rub...  so for me corseting is a health benefit...

kajira4aMaster -> RE: Corsetting (4/23/2006 9:53:57 PM)

yep.. i have a very short waist.. if you want to call it that... anyhoo.. 12th rib rubs...

mixielicous -> RE: Corsetting (4/24/2006 7:52:13 AM)

very interesting!~

MySweetSubmssive -> RE: Corsetting (5/3/2006 4:15:36 PM)

I believe the smallest corsetted waist (in the Guiness Book of World's Records) was 13" on a woman named Ethel Granger in the early 20th century.  You can find photos of her without her corset in her 70s -- she has a permanently breathless look to her.  There is so much information out there on waist-training and corsetry ... you could spend days reading it all.  Yum!!

MistressImp -> RE: Corsetting (5/3/2006 7:56:34 PM)

years...Years....YEARS ago.... when I was much thinner I could get down to 16"'s.... but only for short periods of time.... I loved corsets then, and still love them today, but now I only pull till I get that nice curve in the mirror...The only major thing I know about "corset training" or severly reducing the waist size is that it's something that should be carefully monitored because depending on how much you are reducing it can and does cause organs to move around.

MistressLina -> RE: Corsetting (5/3/2006 8:21:17 PM)

I can't imagine it would be good for you, unless you had a very specific problem like kajira4aMaster
Otherwise I would worry about the permanent damage you could do, especially with no real formal training. Aesthetics are one thing, your health is another.
Now if only there were bdsm friendly doctors out there...

RapturesDaddy -> RE: Corsetting (5/5/2006 9:44:56 AM)

When I first intorduced mine to corseting, she was pleastly suprised. Her previous Dom did not unerstand the proper way to lace or select one.

She admitted that she did not like it with him, however with me, it damn near takes her to subspace when I lace her. She calls it "floating" lol.

First off, all are not made the same. A good true corset must have steel bones, a good sturdy busk and good grommets and lacing stock. That being said the piece should be no more than 4-6" smaller than your waist. 4" is ideal for a beginner. The material it is made from is also iportant as to how you wer and lace it. A new leather corset shoud be gradually laced down as it warms to your body temp and becomes pliable. Over an hour or so with gradual tightening is the best practice. Materials such as satin and cotton blends are much more pliable.

A good corset will conform to YOUR body and shape. Do not let others wear your corset. The molding will take place over weeks considering how often you wear it.

All that being said I find lacing mine up in hers is one of the most erotic parts of our time together. She realy enjoys it, and I feed off her reaction. It CAN be a very sensual experience, espically with a well practiced dom working the laces.

True waist reduction is only safely done by diet and exercise IMO. Doing so permanently with a corset can be dangerous.

Bearlee -> RE: Corsetting (5/9/2006 2:57:01 PM)

Good idea, sultryvoice!  His name is Fakir Musafar; you can see his website here:

http://www.bodyplay.com/  Be sure to click 'About Fakir...' for pictures of some of his own corsetting!  (and other pictures not for the feint of heart...)

Did you know he and Cleo DuBois have been partners for a long time?  Too cool, huh?

kizzy101 -> RE: Corsetting (10/9/2006 6:10:26 AM)

Im a big girl at size 26/28 ..breasts 46DD and I have just bought a corset. I love the feel of it as it is laced tight. I just wish I was a bit smaller in the tummy area!

sissifytoserve -> RE: Corsetting (10/9/2006 8:14:08 AM)

I actully get high sometimes when I wear a corset. I think it has to do with the compression.
It can have an addictive quality about it.

Now..Im a male...so...its amazing to me what it can do for my shape. Plus the forced posture correction helps.

On a female the effect is just phenomenal...appearance wise.

It can make you look like a work of art. Although I can't say I am a big fan of those tightlacers
who want to have the world's smallest waist. It seems unhealthy to me.

A corset can make just about any slim/average or plump figures look better.IMHO

By the way...if you are seriously going to reduce almost everyday...definately get one custom tailored..or youll be sorry. Trust me.

Anything else is just eveningwear/playwear.

Where I get mine.....
