"No religious holiday should be recognized by the government. The whole thing is a joke. Jefferson would be sick to his stomach." Agreed, but how to deal with this ? Red days. Upon admission to a school or a job you get so many red days per year, which must be declared right up front. No scheduled tests on those days, no specail school events. No nothing. Every other day is up for grabs for these things. But I say every ENROLLED student or employee actually HIRED. And that is actually discrimination in and of itself. But if we want to all get along, I believe that some discrimination must exist. To think that we can wish it away is foolish. But people have a hard time admitting that. And don't forget, I am no fan of holidays. I don't care, it means holy day on it's face and root. No day is holier than another and until this biomass grows out of this bullshit we are going to have these problems. But then I want my red days as well. So I just pick and choose. Just give me the schedule for anything important, like tests and who knows and that is that. That would pretty much take care of the Agnostics and Atheists as well. Say you get 20 red days. Take them when you want. They build the schedule to avoid all of them listed. If not listed you take your chances by taking them at will. That simple. Take your Dad's birthday, that day in the park, whatever. That trip to wherever. That's probably as about as fair as it gets. And screw summer school, nobody likes that. Just if you are going to purport to accomodate everyone, do it. Do it right. Even then you still can't please everyone. But they don't even try all that much. What about Kwanzaa ? I couldn't care less about it but some do. I don't even know the date. Well just tell them at the beginning and they try not to screw you up. And don't expect perfection no matter what. T
