Well today begins the first phase of the health reform Bill , where people without insurance because of Pre Existing Conditions, or without health insurance for 6 months can sign up for the government plan.  It seems 20 states have opted for the Federal government to run the programs in their states, instead of the state running it. Were you getting your forecasts exclusively from Prisonplanet and the Fox News commentators? I don't know any intelligent person who thought or claimed this was going to destroy anything over night. It's a monkey wrench, bouncing around in the works, that will ultimately bring the entire system into spiraling costs, longer waits and diminished quality of care for all but the wealthiest, forcing another round of reform.

No, it just means that you MAY be able to buy it regardless of pre-existing conditions...Which most states offered anyway[8|]

Under the new law, people who have been denied coverage due to a pre-existing condition and who have been uninsured for at least six months may qualify to buy insurance. Learn more about the plan.

Wow, so you're saying FOX news had covered the story incorrectly???  Say it ain't so  Actually if you took the time to listen to the GOP no voters last year during the debate you would have heard this fortune being told.  And are you saying Sarah Palin is not an intelligent person because she is still out there saying G'ma's plug is going to be pulled?

You would have heard the GOP spread lies like the following:

Since the health care debate began over a year ago, Republicans and their conservative allies have relied on distortions, fabrications, and outright lies in their attempt to kill reform. There were the alleged death panels that would "pull the plug on grandma"; the false claim that doctors would leave their profession if reform passed; and, of course, the myth that reform is a socialist "government takeover" of the health care system. As President Obama correctly noted yesterday, the recently passed Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act bears resemblance to health reform bills proposed by Republicans in the past, so distortions were necessary to perpetuate the narrative that reform would ruin the health care system and harm the country. Now that health care reform is a reality, the right has moved on to a coordinated repeal campaign, and 14 state attorneys general have filed suit against the Act, falsely claiming it is unconstitutional. New myths have also emerged, distorting what the country will look like after the implementation of the health bill and the Student Aid and Fiscal Responsibility Act (SAFRA) that passed with it. Each of the old myths has been debunked, and these new ones are simply more distortions in attempt to mislead the American people.

So there must be a thousands plugs being pulled out as grandma's are killed across the country because the GOV Health Plan has started

See everyone next week, I'm out of here for the Forth of July Weekend, have a great weekend and remember throw the firecrackers not the beer

The more we find out about this bill, the less it is liked. Wait until this fall when all seniors get the letter saying that a program they like, 'medicare advantage', will cost them more or be eliminated. So much for, If you like your current plan, you can keep it.

housesub4you -> RE: Huh, the world did not end?????? (7/2/2010 7:47:04 AM)

Actually many would like "medicare Advantage" to be killed anyway, it is just a money fund for big pharm and hospitals while offering less for more monthly fees

Many would just like plan old medicaid, with out all the prescription limits placed on them by "advantage" the only advantage was to big pharm corps.

I feel young again now.  It is as if our whole plantation has uncovered the magical fountain of youth.

We need the thank face chair for his gallant efforts.

Unlike, say, the old status quo, with its spiraling costs, longer waits and diminished quality of care for all but the wealthiest, forcing a round of reform.

'If you like the plan you have now, you will be able to keep that plan'. Unless you like medicare advantage and want to keep it. Senior citizen backlash on its way..

LoveAndDS -> RE: Huh, the world did not end?????? (7/2/2010 11:21:32 AM)

Everyone is covered thanks to businesses like Tanning Salon's having to tax their customer's an extra 10% here in PA, which means Healthcare is a tax on YOU

servantforuse -> RE: Huh, the world did not end?????? (7/2/2010 11:35:54 AM)

The tanning tax is nationwide, and that is just the tip of the iceburg for new taxes. Hold on to your wallet after Jan. 1st 2011

Musicmystery -> RE: Huh, the world did not end?????? (7/2/2010 12:02:19 PM)

Besides, you're gonna need that health care to treat your melanoma.
