68 year old grandmother tasered in bed.

"(CN) - Police Tasered an 86-year-old disabled grandma in her bed and stepped on her oxygen hose until she couldn't breathe, after her grandson called 911 seeking medical assistance, the woman and her grandson claim in Oklahoma City Federal Court. Though the grandson said, "Don't Taze my granny!" an El Reno police officer told another cop to "Taser her!" and wrote in his police report that he did so because the old woman "took a more aggressive posture in her bed," according to the complaint."

Are you fucking kidding me?  Don't tase me, dude! What were they doing in her apt. in the first place?  I'm completely aghast at this incident.

thornhappy -> RE: 68 yr old grandma tasered in bed (7/1/2010 6:39:25 PM)

From the AP article:

"Varner's grandson called 911 on Dec. 22 and told the dispatcher his grandmother "wanted to end her life" and that he was concerned she had taken some unknown medicine.

Officer Thomas Duran says in a police report that Varner pulled a kitchen knife from under her pillow and threatened to stab and kill him if he tried to take her from her home."

She's a little old lady in bed attached to an oxygen tank!  But thanks, I didn't see that part about what the police were doing there in the first place.

When you read the first paragraph you come to this..." the woman and her grandson claim " That should tell it all... What a crock of bull. You really believe 10 officers are going to "Push their way through the door" someone seems to forget he called them to come...sheee. Then purposely step on her oxygen hose... yea right... Then after the granny, that was on oxygen and could hardly breath, talked with an " aggressive posture" the police decided to taser her in front of all the other officers...

Don't you think;

One… there is more to the story…I mean come on

Two.. That is all made up bullshit…no one is that stupid in front of witnesses.

What Butch said.

Aylee -> RE: 68 yr old grandma tasered in bed (7/1/2010 7:31:20 PM)

Why does this remind me of the story of "Little Red Ridding Hood"?

Grandma. . . what a big knife you have?

So damned hard to find a wood chopper these days so one must substitute a policeman with a taser.  What is the world comming to?  [8|]

Legally, they must say "claim" because that is what it is at this point. Just like they say the police "allegedly" did what they did. Those are terms that must be used in the article for legal reasons.

I do agree there must be much more to this story because there are a lot of questions the article creates rather than answering.

But just because they say that the woman and her grandson "claim" something means it is instantly false. Not how it works.

She is sueing.   Besides she had displayed an aggressive posture.

Why does this surprise anyone ? From Randy Weaver to Gordon Kahl they keep trying to show us who's boss. Why don't we just get the hint ? At her age she doesn't belong in a house, she is a burden to insurance company profits and/or tax money. She belongs in a nursing home where they can kill her quietly after taking everything she might own in the world of any value. A much quicker death.

At only 86 she posed a real threat to eight armed police officers don't you see ? In an institution she would not have that knife and would be defenseless. That is where she belongs. And if her granson was with her, why wasn't he working at McDonald's instead of paying attention to her ? We can't have any discourse between the old and the young. If he had his PhD he might even make manager of Mickey D. Then he could pay taxes. He could work hard for his TV set and shitcan car. Pay his rent to a conglomerate and be what they consider a good citizen. And what they say goes.

They keep trying to teach us but we refuse to learn. People in other countries have learned, but their system is not hampered by any bill of rights or anything. Cradle to grave, that's your Momma.

And WTF is this doing in the media, we need more control over this shit so that we never hear about it. Goddam evil internet, giving people information they are not supposed to have. The inventor of the internet, Al Gore would be spinning in his grave if he had gotten what's coming to him. With media in this country controlled by the very few, an idea that met much advancement when Mike Powell got into the FCC, nobody would ever hear of such things and the sheeple would not get upset. But somebody came along and created this monster and maybe 1% of these stories get out.

The cops in this case handled the matter improperly. The correct response is to shoot everyone and then it is their word against nobody's. That's how the system is supposed to work. Then they are disciplined by the force with two weeks off time, paid and they get a free vacation. They would never be prosecuted, even on their own word, should any be stupid enough to give it. At least one of them must've had a drop piece for the boy. All they have to say is that it looked like an ambush, and that they thought the olady was a Judo expert with a machine gun wearing makeup, with the kid backing her up. They would be as clean as Lon Horiuchi right now. All they have to say is that they "felt" threatened.

What's more the one who tased this menace to society needs to be retrained, how could it take two tries to hit a stationary subject ?

Enough, for now.

Take it in context with the rest of the claim.  They asked for an EMT and TEN COPS came over.  (Ten cops is suited to a major bust of organized crime, not a little old lady.)  There is no way.

flcouple2009 -> RE: 68 yr old grandma tasered in bed (7/2/2010 6:48:36 AM)

Steven,

You don't need an army of officers to write a routine traffic ticket.  But around here when they are bored and doing nothing you can have 3 or 4 cars and a cluster of officers watching one write a ticket to someone for rolling a stop sign.

LadyEllen -> RE: 68 yr old grandma tasered in bed (7/2/2010 7:28:31 AM)

There is of course a perfectly reasonable alternative explanation to this police thuggery allegation.

The cops turned up to find that the grandson had cut off her oxygen supply in a bid to kill her and get his inheritance, having called the cops to make it look like he had done what he could to save her. The cops arrived to find her on a knife edge as to life and death (see how that could be confusing?) and poised for death ("dangerous posture") so they administered an electric shock, with the tazer, as a make shift form of defribrillation and it worked.

Grandson is now in the shit potentially, so crafts a story from what there is available, to cover his murderous tracks.

See? Plenty of doubt about police brutality, a suggestion of criminal intent and act by the grandson that requires investigation until the complaint is dropped. Aint reasonable doubt a useful notion?
