Blaming Collarme for "the patriarchy" doesn't make much sense. The patriarchy existed long before Collarme.

I agree, the problem is with the porn sites that advertise not with CM.

Greetings everyone,

Lady Morgynn and some others make some very good points here. Even finding one successful match here is worth putting up with some ads, and these here have been tame and reasonable compared to many other places. You can't put your profile out in too many places for finding what we can find here -- and other places not only charge money, but also do not get even close to as good results as I have had here. Lady Morgynn also mentioned alt.com here, no offense to the community, but I could not find a single match there --- it was a complete waste of my time and my household's money to have our information up on that site. Here it is and always have been free, and here I have had much success and have found not only wonderful friends, but also some worthy submissives and slaves. And that to me is worth a lot more than worrying about some ads.

I give my best to the Owners of this site, they have done a great job and have been responsible for many matches for many people, and a lot of fun for others that are looking primarely for fun. THANK you!

Haya Sierra ---

<snip myself>  What if CM started running ads for males for sale?  Or, maybe one political party decided that the BDSM folk were a great undiscovered bunch of voters and CM ran ads for only one political party?   What if some neo-nazi group decided to advertise here?  At what point would yourideals outweigh your desire for a free site?  And at what point would you expect CM  to take a stand?

Smythe

I'm willing to let the marketplace take care of that one. If CM decided to start promoting neo-nazi groups, I'd stop frequenting the site, as I'm sure a lot of other will. And if CM started running ads for males for sale, I'd be asking where I can sign myself up to be sold.

Oh what a cutie!!!

This site is not run by men.

i would recomment clicking on support and suggest they put up your boy toys!

truesub4u -> RE: Sexploitation of Women in Advertising on Collarme (4/15/2006 3:03:51 PM)

Damn people... the OP wasn't bitching about the advertisments.... she was just wondering why it's all female... and no males.  It was just an observation..... there was no bitching as to why it's there... either it be free or not to be on here.. just a simple observation of why all female and no males on any of the advertisements. Nothing more.... nothing less....

Figures some nit picky snob would eventually post some unreasonable pro feminist rights post over those damn ads.

They're just ads, for buisness, why not attack a billboard, or better yet, get a life.

LOVE IT! I couldn't have said it better myself.
I just use the drag (no pun intended) arrow to make the internet page smaller and I can't see a even one damn "cocksucking" woman. (Cocksucking is totally UNDER-rated!!!!) (grin)

petwolf22 -> RE: Sexploitation of Women in Advertising on Collarme (4/15/2006 6:59:20 PM)

Really who cares. [&:] It's marketing, LaContessa, did you go to college?  [8|]

The site is free, who do you think pays for that, some fairy godmother/ father? [sm=confused.gif]

I'm little testy today!  Get a life.[:@]

I agree, porn is fine.

Pornography: Sexually explicit pictures, writing, or other material whose primary purpose is to cause sexual arousal.

I like being sexually aroused. Of course I prefer it when it's someone in my bed doing it, but *shrugs and smiles*..

Actually, I'd prefer to see no advertising, but, as I said in My original post, I DO understand the 'need' for advertising on a site such as this.  Thanks to those that contributed intelligently to My comments. As for the others, I realise the concept was a little 'high-brow' for you neanderthals, but do try and jump onto the evolutionary bus sometime soon.

And silly me was thinking of selling silly things on eBay like household goods or some of hubby's sports card collection. Back to the drawing board [;)]

she said they were both bidding on the same flogger and he pulled her contact info from ebay. Ebay doesn't allow that anymore, you could message the other bidder but not get their contact info. You can if you are the seller, and they are the winning bidder.  I generally have about 300 auctions up there at any given time, I'm pretty sure on this one.

Thanks.

I agree that you cannot blame CM for the status quo, or even really expect them to take a stand, when business and income are involved. If, as an individual you disagree with their practices, you should express yourself as the OP did, but after that, your only option is to leave, if you really can't stand it.

But for those of you who say you simply don't care what is advertised, as long as the site remains free for you, I wonder where your limits would be? What if CM started running ads for males for sale? Or, maybe one political party decided that the BDSM folk were a great undiscovered bunch of voters and CM ran ads for only one political party? What if some neo-nazi group decided to advertise here? At what point would yourideals outweigh your desire for a free site? And at what point would you expect CM to take a stand?

Although not directly relevant to your question, I'll just say one little thing. The good thing about being the sub is you that don't have to always decide where the lines are drawn. Someone else does that for you.

DelightMachine -> RE: Sexploitation of Women in Advertising on Collarme (4/16/2006 11:12:09 AM)

Other posters have mentioned that the market for porn directed at females is minuscule comapred to that directed at males, but no one's given the reason. I don't think it's fair to assume that "patriarchy" is the reason (or if it's a reason that it's the major one).

I think one of the many genetic differences between most men and most women is that men are visually oriented and probably more oriented toward sex. So sites selling sexy pictures (or magazines selling them) are going to find more male buyers.

Women's approach toward sex seems to involve a personal comfort level with a particular person, and you can't buy or sell that over the Internet, and probably not even in real life. Men generally separate sex from relationships much easier than women do, so someone can market sex to men. How do you market a relationship to a woman? Maybe through romance novels?

Caveat: Yes it's all generalization and there are plenty of exceptions (that's why we have gigilos -- and why there are so few gigilos).

You might believe that it's all socially ("environmentally") programmed into us, but I think no matter how much you try, you'll find more men interested in porn than women.

Hell yes, I could be wrong.

LokisBrat -> RE: Sexploitation of Women in Advertising on Collarme (4/16/2006 11:52:18 AM)

I love that this site is free.

I run this site strictly on Mozilla Firefox. The latest version includes ad-block software, so I don't ever even see ads such as those discussed here.

I worked in radio years ago, and while I didn't always agree with the ads I had to make commercials out of, they paid the bills.

I didn't see anyone suggest it, (and I may have missed it [:D])
but maybe you could message a Mod on the site and suggest the idea of making the ads a bit more "equal?"

Probably being one of the neanderthals who refused to take the OP seriously but rather as an amusing aside, I have to ask, Your educationl level is? Your blood liniage is? Your heritage is?

I don't think the mods have anything to do with the ads.
